Weren't Stan's parents stoners when they were young?
My guess is "yes" and they know grass is pretty harmless. But typical of so many my age, they are hypocrites and liars. "My kids are different than me!"
Why is that?? So many people my age are such asshole lying douches.

I think most people should NOT be parents. It takes a certain kind of person, very well-grounded, dedicated, and just the right personality. But nearly all adults become parents anyway unfortunately. And the ones who have no business being parents tend to fall into that hypocritical douchey behavior we all know and hate.
