South Park is effectively "for" personal freedom, but it gives *some* weight to other issues, such as "pedophiles are bad". They're pretty sensitive to nuance, as well.

For instance, they recently (last week) did an episode about music "sharing". They nailed it solidly to the wall: it's stealing but it's not hurting the people involved THAT much, and after all they're really into it for the money not the art, AND at the same time they said a few things about Christian Rock music.

And Cartman finally got the snot beaten out of him, which I've been waiting to see for 7 years. It's all good. Oh, and they stopped killing Kenny, a while back.

They've done eps on swearing (said "shit" over 160 times, with a counter in the corner of the screen), on tolerance (often), on political correctness, on parenting (fairly often), on the Golden Rule (Cartman vs Shelly), etc. Like many before them, they use comedy to cover for the fact that they frequently say things difficult to impossible to say otherwise.

Of course, there ARE eps where they are just fucking around, but they're less frequent than you might think, especially the last few years.

REAL artists make art because they have to, and FAKERS do it just to make money -- not that making money from art you have to make is bad, though... like, I got NEA money after working on the "Emerson" Concerto and it was coooool....
