And YOU need to realise, that by YOUR parameters, I can say whatever the hell *I* like on the group. No-one is more aware than I that this is NOT a monitored group. And I'm glad of it too!
Remember bud, you call for freedom of speech, that means shutting up when opposing views come your way. And I don't see too many people telling you you are a font of civility and sense. ANY society (and this IS a society) conforms to a certain norm, those who are outwith that norm will always be treated differently. This *was* a civil NG until the recent influx due to the movie. And, whereas we have to live with it, doesn't mean we have to like it.
Some of the newcomers have been arses, some have been extremely civil, AFAIAC the arses can fade away and die. If this society changes beyond recognition then it will be a place I don't wanna be anymore, and I will *perhaps* leave, but until that happens I will say WHAT I like, WHEN I like, and to WHOM I like about WHATEVER I like.
You can call it eliteist, I call it freedom. And *I* have not called for anyone to leave the group, I have called only for civility.
But I ain't getting it from you, despite your *outrage* that I *dared* call for it. I mean, you took offense because I congratulated two guys for sorting a problem without flames??? What was your problem with that? You weren't even involved??

And have you seen me doing similar to what you describe? No, your diatribe occured due to the fact that I praised some guys for taking a debate to a conclusion *without* resorting to the name calling and lame attempts at flaming as YOU are doing. (Which, to me, is NOT following netiquette...)
