Call to ban SP in Australia...

Yep, it had to happen sooner or later. A story printed in the Sunday Mail yesterday said that an organisation had called for the banning of South Park from Australian TV channels. It claimed the usual stuff, and said parents should 'debrief' their children after watching a SP episode. *Yawn* But they did actually have a go at parents, saying that some did not know what their kids watched, or were too weak to say 'No'.

I don't have any fear this will happen, as the show is played at 9:30pm on SBS. Firstly the 9:30pm is reserved for such adult shows, and SP is the most popular show played on SBS - ever. I don't think they will drop it in the near future. The worst that would happen is that they move it even later.

It doesn't matter anyway, can always download the episodes from the web.

Boy, thoses morons that want to have SP banned must be doing a fucken BAD job of raising there kids. If you don't like SP, then don't watch SP, put your kids to bed or watch something else, but don't try ban SP, its not real, its a cartoon for crying out loud.

I wrote a couple of letters to the editor last year. One was asking why I had to watch part of the news taken up with the colour of the Queen's socks. The other taking the mickey out of the paper for showing the same cartoon twice on the same page. My parents didn't like me writing to the editor because everyone contacted them, so I stopped.

p.s. I am 21 and live about 500km from my parents, but they still pay the rent, so best to obey their minor wishes.

Editors dont write to you asking ID to print..rarely they look up your street address as confirmation of your phone number. So call your self Agony Aunt @ 69 Passion Crt. etc..and gooo for it. People like that make me so mad. Who are they to tell everybody else what they can or can't watch? If they don't want their children watching south park, then they shouldn't let them watch it. Other people's children are other people's concern. Didn't Kyle on South Park say: "Parents only get so offended by what their children watch on tv because they use it as a babysitter."? Maybe those parents should take a lesson from him.

Mark,, I read the article and posted it here,, this was my free time and effort to prevent this happening ..in just a small way. This "solution" of yours is typical of Aussies,, APATHETIC,, we deserve exactly what we get with an attitude as yours. I did something..YOU,,sat back grunted, farted and yawned .. someone else's problem, ( I'm roight Jack ) !! Most Aussies wouldn't have the advantage you have,, why don't you use it in a positive way?
