The Comedy in South Park...

On Tuesday, I was watching SPBLU on Showtime and my father came in from bringing my sister somewhere. It was the part when The Mole made the nasty abortion remark and Winona Ryder playing the ping pong. Before he left, he saw the beginning (right after the Asses of Fire movie luckily)

So my father is disgusted and I decide to take it off. He just cant stop talking about how vulgar it is, how he would've rated it NC17 (told him the story), and how unlike the show it is.

Last night, at around 9 PM, we were talking about South Park. My parents are serious about everything, and very religious, and I just keep saying "But it IS vulgar - and that's why it's funny!" and they can't see that.

So it gets into whether SP will still be funny if they took all the vulgarity out. My parents say no one would care if there was no vulgarity, but I said that Trey and Matt are good comedians and could think something else up.

And then, a few minutes later, the Masterpiece Theater spoof with Pip comes on. It turns out they were right...

Sure it's Vulgar, and at times, it does offend me (the religious episodes and the comments about God in BLU being the worst) but considering Parker and Stone make fun of everything, It doesn't bother me too much, as I still appreciate it.

When I first saw it, I apparently saw some of the more offensive eps(the canabalism one, the fetus lady), and it turned me off the show for a long time. It wasn't until I saw BLU that I started appreciating it again and got hooked.

keeping this is mind, I don't talk about it directly or use some of the nastier jokes around people who probably wouldn't appreciate it. I also don't watch it around such people. However, if someone is likely to look past it, I've weaned at least one person onto it by showing them some of the "tamer" episodes first before moving on the really offensive stuff, as well as the movie.

Pip's hella lame. Little french turd.

You do know that Pip is British, right? Anyway, Pip is supposed to be lame. So lame that he's funny, imo.

Okay, my bad. I seem to remember the kids calling him French now even though he corrected them. He got really mad at that, as I recall. Dodgeball episode, right?

I understand the joke about calling Pip French. I just forgot about it for about 10 minutes. I don't remember that part in BLU, but when I see it next time, I'll remember you told me.

The whole pip joke is a joke on Star trek: The Next generation. Captain Picard is french, but Patrick Stewart is an englishman with an english accent.

Also, plenty of Brits don't care that much for the French and vice versa, so it's funny to call one the other.
