Keep in mind while you're reading the grosses for south park that south park is a Low Budget movie. It cost under 20million to make (not a lot by today's Hollywood standards), is on 1000 fewer screens than Wild Wild West. South Park has not been designed to be a blockbuster. Matt and Trey have chosen the path less taken. And they are doing damn well despite that: Better reviews than WWW and better per-theater average grosses.

In an article on Mr. Showbiz (www.mrshowbiz.go.com) it is reported that South Park is on roughly 1,000 fewer screens than Wild Wild West, Big Daddy and Tarzan. (see article: "Wild Wild Weekend at B.O.)
Also Yahoo's Box Office grosses list shows the actual number of theaters each film is in.
South Park is in 2,128 theaters while Wild Wild West is showing in 3,342 which means:

Ps. Apparently the cost of South Park was roughly 21 million, not UNDER 20 million as I stated before. But it's already made over 23 million so far, so things are doing well.

Don't ask me. I know some of the "hell" effects were done on computer, and I've read (though not sure this is true) that they use a computer to create South Park now- but it simulates the look of construction paper.
