The Kenny Factor (#406 spoiler)

Kenny's mom keeps giving birth to new Kennys? Are we suppose to believe that's the reason he keeps coming back after he dies? That doesn't really make a lot of sense. In the first place, in order for Mrs. McCormick to have gotten pregnant over 50 times, she would have to be pretty darn old, older than she looks. Secondly, eight years would have to pass in the time between Kenny's rebirth and the following episode in order for him to have grown into an eight year old. Everyone else would, also, have to age eight years. Thirdly, in #202, Kenny returned by just appearing out of thin air. The are probably some other reasons why the explanation is just plain implausible, but I just woke up and can't think of any right now.

Pipelining. She gives birth to them in parallel and has duplicates of herself available so that one Kenny could be born each week between 12 and 5 years ago. Remember, we had an 8 year old Kenny when the series started 4 years ago(?) and they've renewed for another three years, so... OTOH, there aren't 52 eps a year, so they don't need quite that many Kennys, more like under 20 each year. That makes it a little easier.

Revisionism: that never happened. You don't remember seeing that. Itttttnnnnnneeeevveeerrrrrrr hhaaaaappppeennnnneeeeddddddddd.....

Other reasons why it couldn't happen? Sure: it's a cartoon. Whatever they say is the reason is -definitive-. You can't argue about it, and if it doesn't make sense, that's part of the gestalt. Just like Bugs Bunny never seemed to run out of carrots unless it was part of the plot. Just as the incredibly racist cartoons of the WWII era with the Warner Brothers' characters were never made.

Are you saying the REST of the show *does* make sense and *is* plausible? Think:

  • A basket-weaving monster has Patrick Duffy for a leg?
  • Elephant fuck pigs (producing Garrison-lookalike offspring)?
  • Aliens put a satellite dish up the ass of an 8-year-old?
  • Jesus has a talk show on public access?
  • A colony of gnomes steals underpants nightly?
  • A piece of shit emerges from the sewer at Christmas?
  • Said piece of shit talks, dances, and sings?
  • Barbra Streisand and others morph into mechanical monsters?

People who complain about inconsistencies or implausibilities in a show like South Park are as bad as the idiots on alt.tv.simpsons who are always trying to figure out what state Springfield is in.

Quite right, and I take it back. The real fantasy there might be that Ms. BS inspired other beings to morph into mecha-monsters. (Or maybe that she "inspired" *anyone* to do *anything*.) <ducking>

I just like, at least, a little believability in the show, that's all. Explaining away Kenny's resurrections by saying his mom keeps giving birth to him over and over again is just a little TOO unbelievable.

Put yourself into a receptive state. Okay, ready?

You never saw that episode. It didn't happen, like Highlander 2, it never aired and you didn't see it. In fact, they never made it.

This reminds me of MST3K and "it's just a show, I should really just relax" and the last Austin Powers movie concerning Michael York's comment on time-travel.

Personally, I can't see each new Kenny being born with the accumulated knowledge of all previous Kennies. Maybe it's an illogical offshoot of one of the Doctor's five-assed experiments.

It could have been an actor in costume all along, Patrick Duffy was just only so much anamatronics and a voice over.

It's a penis and a vagina. Why wouldn't it work? As for the offspring, you only think he looks like Garrison, that could have been a lighting trick.

Aliens with technology advanced enough to locate and travel to another civilization could easily have advanced miniaturization techniques we can only dream about.

If millions of people can see Elvis every day, why can't they see Jesus too?

Can you prove they don't exist? Just because they don't want your underpants in no reason to deny they don't want others'.

Ok, this one's sort of illogical. There's no shit in sewers.

Again, they plug a few cables into him (pulled from the Patrick Duffy leg to save money) and he can do just about anything.

What much maligned celebs do with their free time is of no concern to you.

How about the people who piss on those who choose to amuse themselves by taking the show far more seriously than should be normally warranted?

And it's in Kentucky. ;)

Interesting .SIG quote considering the content of this post, wouldn't you say?

Unless it was all a joke.

Why not? Jadzia Dax does on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The trill symbiont is moved from host to host with the accumulated knowledge of all previous hosts. So that must be it. Kenny is a trill.

Does Elvis have a talk show too? Geee, I'll never watch Jerry Springer in quite the same way again!

Naw, Star Trek is just Sci-Fi, not real life like South Park.

Sure he does, only instead of a common studio he hovers over swap meets and appears in peoples' potato cellars.

I watch Springer only up until something disgusts me.

I've yet to get past the opening credits.

Mephisto tested a fertility drug on Kenny's mom, which is why she can keep popping out Kennys. The side-effect is that the babies mature quite fast and, yet, in the cosmic karma / balance of things, the Kennys keep getting killed.

This was covered way back in the first season. Maybe you missed the episode: "The Morning After."

I think you've got your shows confused, dude. There was never an episode called "The Morning After" in the first season, or any season, and, also, no plot about Mephesto testing a fertility drug. Maybe, you're thinking of a fanfic or something.

In fact, now that I saw it this morning after downloading it via a newsgroup (no cable right now, what with me in Massachusetts and my TV in Texas), I might do it to -me-, too. It's awful! I mean, laughing so hard that my belly goes into spasms while at the same time crying my eyes out is -really- nasty.

Who are you, Alanis Morrissette?

What you just used was not irony. Don't get me wrong, it was a great "gotcha" but there was nothing ironic about it.

No wonder I was confused. Had absolutley no idea what this talk about irony was referring to, either. I just passed over the thread until now.
