Besides, I'm trying to figure out what the REAL bandwidth of this cable modem is. They say the maximum theoretical speed is 10 Mbps (i.e. Ethernet), but I wanna see what the real one is, and the only way to do that is to overload the site until it chokes... :-)

250 kbps isn't 2 mbps, it's .2 mbps. I think they're a little better than that.

I've got a cable modem too... they're *sweet*! BTW, 2 mbps is not megabytes, but megabits... 8 bits = 1 byte; therefore, the guy is right in saying 250 kb per second = 2megabits/second. I get around 350-450 kb/second when connected to fast servers.

Ok, that makes sense, but in the original post, kb and mb were used, which is kilobyte and megabyte.

I downloaded about half of the frosty episode this morning before your server went down, and after 12 megs, I was averaging 3.1k/second with a 28.8 connection on my end.

I didn't know that Cox was offering Internet. Where are you located (geographically)?
