Cartman's Britney Spears sex-slave line was gone from tonight's ep. Guess it got cut since the promo aired last week.

I'd guess blatant censorship -- anyone know if it comes direct from CC or do they submit to censors like the Networks do?

I haven't seen the article mentioned here, but within the last 10 days or so USA today had a write up about SP. They mentioned that out of the NAMBLA episode, the part that was suggested to be cut was the "John Denver Experience" scene. Funny that so many other things in that ep could have been seen as offensive and they picked that!

My thoughts -- maybe CC was afraid of Britney's lawyers.

I don't think that was the case, because I've seen several promos for the wekend SP repeats since Wednesday, and the Britney Spears line is still in there. If there was the threat of a lawsuit, that line would have been removed from the promos as well.

I think they just added the line into the promo, rather than removed it from the show.

I read some time back that CC does have a "censor" -- or at least someone who tries to censor the stuff they feel is "too much" for TV. However, unlike the major networks (at least at the time I read this), CC has only one person acting in this regard.

I would doubt they were afraid of Britney's lawyers. The show is obviously satire and just think of all the celebs they have made fun of in countless ways...

I suppose my best guess why the line was changed was Trey & Matt thought about it and realized it didn't make sense; Cartman hasn't expressed much (if any) sexual desires. None of the kids seems to know much about sex except for Kenny. Having Cartman make Britney Spears his "sex slave" just doesn't compute.

Yeah, but this has happened all the time. Remember the scene from the promo for Chinpokomon where Cartman is talking in the lunch room and Chef asks him what the hell he's saying? Or how about the scene in the promo for Chef's Mama showing Miss Crabtree as a chef?

What episode is that? I don't recall an episode by that name. And by sex, I mean the recreational aspect, so that it would make sense to want a "sex slave." I should have been more specific. I do vaguely recall one of the boys (Stan?) describing sex perfectly correctly in a technical manner but actually having little clue as to what he was saying.

"Tom's Rhinoplasty", maybe? The one in which Garrison gets plastic surgery to look like David Hasselhoff, and the kids get a lesbian substitute teacher, that all the boys get a crush on.

Oh yeah. Well, they got a crush on the substitute teacher, but I don't recall any of them (again, except for Kenny -- perhaps) fantasizing about her in a sex-slave function.

Or, maybe Matt and/or Trey later decided that it was'nt funny enough, and took it out themselves.

I doubt they took it out because it was not funny enough, not every line in every episode is funny, and they have not removed all the other non-funny lines

I think it was just done because that happens with MOST promos....they change the lines later or the animation later because its not done, or just to get attention for a new episode. I dunno, they often have lines in the promos that aren't in the episode. In the NAMBLA episode, they had Casrtman holding the two Kama Sutra videos in the diner and protesting that there was a government conspireacy against him, and that wasn't in the episode. Maybe they take lines cut for time and us them in the promos so they do get used.

I'm thinking they just do some crazy promos that aren't meant to be clips cut from the upcoming episode. There is probalby some subliminal message/joke that only Matt and Trey get. It's kinda like when your watching television and they give a promo for the news at 10. You never see the same clip then either. Of course this is all only my opinion.

I was just getting back to this and finally going to reply -- obviously there's a long history of lines changing between the promos & the actual episodes. Well said!.

So has anyone started a list of what's changed between promos & episodes?

Heres another example of change. In last nights episode Wendy screams to Bebe that she likes Cartman. Yet in the commercial Wendy didnt scream to Bebe, she just plainly flat-out said that she liked Cartman.

Yes. And the promo where cartman says "calm down ho" was different too. In the promo it was a shot of just Cartman. And Timmay did an excelent job last night, supreme acting by that kid!!
