I don't think a broad denigration of homeschool is exactly the way to go. It really depends on the parents. Why are they pulling their kids out of school? To keep them from "the vices of the world?" (which is the wrong reason) Or because they believe the child's education will benefit? (which, IMO, is a good reason) And are they getting their kids involved in sports or other activities with other children? Many homeschooling parents are doing this now to answer the criticisms about their kids' social lives. It also depends on the kids- smart kids in particular could really benefit from being able to do things at their own pace.
I'm not trying to denigrate public school. I went to public school, and I turned out alright. I just think everyone's options should be left open. Both public and homeschool have their negative and positive points.
Other than that little nit, this ep was pretty good, although not as funny as last week's. South Park is changing, but I don't think that's a bad thing. It IS becoming more intelligent and more relevant, and I think that makes the show more biting. And I don't feel like it's completely abandoning its roots- as last week's constant penis jokes demonstrate, the profanity it still there. And Cartman, who is essentially their classic comedic character, hasn't changed a bit. He still pulls a great deal of the comedic weight, and the pun is fully intentional. :-)
South Park is essentially a comedic fantasy, and one advantage to being a fantasy is that you can be as controversial as you want. The best way to look at reality is from the outside, and I'm glad to see that they are taking advantage of this.

PS: I did not catch the Trek reference, I guess mainly because that episode wasn't one of their outstanding ones. Thanks for pointing it out though- it brings new light onto that scene. :-)
