Mormon episode - goof?

Didn't one of Stan's parents say that "God and Jesus don't talk to people"? Er, wasn't Jesus a character for the first who-knows-how-many seasons?

I think they left out a couple of parts of the story, like the one where they have to explain how somebody actually rises from the dead, yet only twelve people ever manage to see him again - oh, wait, that's not just the Mormon religion, is it? Okay, how about the one where God promises to kill the oldest sons of the Egyptians, but God isn't capable of separating the Egyptians from the Jewish on his own, so he needs somebody to mark the doorways of the Jewish homes - no, hold on, that's not just the Mormon religion either...

One could reason that God was going to use natural phenomena to kill the first-born, and as such phenomena are not at all discriminating, he sent for the doorways to be marked as a seal against that phenomena. This means that also some first-born Jews were killed for not having that seal. Besides, God didn't make that promise. Just 12? He appeared to the two Marys before the Twelve ever saw him that Resurrection Sunday, then to two men while they were on their way to Emmaus. Later he appeared to at least 500 believers, and then to Paul, who was not one of the Twelve. But no one kept detailed records on Jesus like they did on Joseph Smith. There really is no point in trying to PROVE one's faith, because he will, eventually, no matter what. How can one *know* his belief to be correct and simultanously *doubt* it?

But that's not the point. Religion is a refuge and for many people it is a good one. The only awful thing I can think of it, is trying to enforce it on somebody (which, by the way is exactly what happened to all of us -- we were not given choice). Apart from that, one can believe in The Matrix for all I care. The only downside is that is kinda slows/stops the evolution of the human intelligence if religion is left at the mercy of some smart men who use it as a tool to control others...

That isnt in the mormon religion at ALL actually. They claimed to have 12 witnesses to the plates, but it was later revealed that the 12 witnesses were actually only witnesses in "faith", meaning they did not see the plates physically, but "sensed" them.

Also, most of the witnesses were either kicked out of the church for apostacies, or left after they saw where smith was going.

You are, a completely a total moron when it comes to the mormon religion. It is funny to hear your arguments where you try and compare it to Christianity. Goof.
