OT: Upright Citizen's Brigade?

So what did you think?

I gave it a chance... I'd seen the kids a couple of times before and they were funny... but I dunno...

I was expecting a Monty Python-esque show... but it was much darker comedy....

I dunno. I didn't like it. I suppose I'll watch next week and see how it goes... but if it's anything like tonight's episode, I'll probably stop watching thereafter.

I think the think that freaked the SPers out about the Upright Citizens Brigade was the fact that it was acted by real people.

SP fans would accept the show's "darkness" and "weirdness" if it was animated. When you see real people doing things it seems that much more distrubing.

If I remeber back, the first episode of SP sucked. It took time for everyone to get used to the show and get onboard.

First episode of SP sucked?!?!? It was one of the very BEST! I was hooked from Episode 1!

That's a good point. There are plenty of things I think are funny, but they would be stupid if it was "real life". The zombie massacre from the Halloween special of SP comes to mind...

Still, I think the UCB was just not funny. Even if they had been animated, I think they need some "jokes". For example, Bob & Margaret is not funny, and it *is* animated! IMHO

Same here. I watched the first 10 minutes or so, and the only *remotely* funny parts were what we saw in the previews!

And does a sketch comedy show need a "premise"? Like there's a group of people trying to promote "chaos"? Just be funny!! That would be plenty!

But no... instead we get a minute long "explanation" at the beginning, which not only serves no purpose, it isn't funny!

I saw it and it wasnt bad. Some of it was really funny. But, we will see.

I thought it kicked ass. It's much smarter and well-developed than most "sketch" shows. I'm looking forward to next week.

I giggled a few times and defiantly can't wait to see it next week. At certain times I was just thinking "What the F*ck?!?!" which is a reaction that always makes me smile.

They did bring "Whose Line..." back!! It's on Wednesday night at 9:30 EDT on ABC. It's been on for a couple of weeks, and Drew Carey hosts the show. IMHO, it's funny, but not like it used to be.

Agree. While I admire attempts to be different you still have to be funny. This was not funny.

UCB was 100% not funny. Probably one of the only reasons to switch the channel to Bobcat's Big Ass Show . Just one more reason SP is carrying Comedy Central.

Yeah the only part about that show I liked was the very end "Don't you think I already know that?" That was _cute_.
