(SP MUSIC) Why haven't they done this?

I'm wondering how come they didn't release a SOUTH PARK soundtrack(for the series) on CD? By this time the series ends, it could have been a box set.

Mainly 'cause most of the songs aren't long enough to justify an album. It'd be like listening to a CD full of commercial jingles. Although such a CD has been made, lol.

It worked for the Grim Fandango game soundtrack, and even though the pieces are extremely short, it's among my favourite albums. Also, a) by now the SP makers should have enough material to fill a CD, and b) apart from Mary Kay Bergman, all the artists (including the band) should be at hand, so what's to stop them from recording extended versions of the "greatest hits"?

I'd love to see an album along the lines of "Simpsons: Songs in the Key of Springfield" and "Go Simpsonic", which basically took the songs straight from the audio tracks of the episodes and added additional bits of dialouge. Seriously, there are more than enough songs in the South Park universe to justify an album, even aside from the Chef songs. And I'd rather see the tracks taken right from the episodes, not extended versions. If anyone wants to compile a list of all the South Park songs that would be a good start. Remember, there are at least 5 versions of the theme song alone:

Theme song 1: season 1 and 2 (Kenny: "I like girls with big vaginas....")

Theme song 2: season 3 and first half of season 4 (Kenny: "I have got a ten inch penis, use your mouth if you want to clean it")

Theme song 3: second half of season 4 and season 5 (Fourth Grade)

Theme song 4: season 6 (Timmy in place of Kenny)

Theme song 5: season 7 (new Kenny lyrics)

and I'm not even counting the Halloween version of the theme song from seasons 1-3.

I do like the fact they don't usually try to cram every character into an episode (aka Simpsons) but c'mon! It's chef!
