To my utter astonishment, a local broadcast station -- KCAL channel 9 -- here in Los Angeles, California, is going to start airing two episodes of SP a day, six days a week, starting this Mon. Sep. 19. They're going to be at 11:00 and 11:30 PM, so I'm hoping -- probably unrealistically -- that there won't be too much censorship.
It even looks like they'll be showing the eps Comedy Central consistently skips; according to their schedule "Death" is on Sat. the 24th at 11:30 and "Pip" on Mon. the 26th at 11:00 -- neither of which I've ever seen before. Yay!
Syndication is nationwide; KBHK (San Francisco's UPN station) is airing SP weeknights at 11:30 and midnight.
As for what gets censored, see: http://animatedtv.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://www.tvguide.com/News/Insider/2005/0901/03insider.htm Apparently, the biggest cuts so far are changing all "goddamns" to "damns" - and something tells me "It Hits the Fan" is one of the "few" episodes that won't air in syndication.
Something tells me every station is running the same episodes (usually because the stations don't pay for them; instead, they have to run the commercials that are included with the episodes) - here's the KBHK list: 11:30 9/19 - Cartman Gets an Anal Probe 9/20 - Weight Gain 4000 9/21 - Volcano 9/22 - Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride 9/23 - An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig 9/26 - Death 9/27 - Starvin' Marvin 9/28 - Tom's Rhinoplasty 9/29 - Mecha Streisand Apparently, Damien is on the "no-air" list. (It's possible that Pink Eye and Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo aren't being shown yet because they are Halloween and Christmas episodes, and syndicators have a habit of not showing them until October and December. No, I don't know why "Helen Keller: The Musical", which is a Thanksgiving episode, is airing in September...)
Midnight 9/19 - Timmy 2000 9/20 - Trapper Keeper 9/21 - Chef Goes Nanners 9/22 - Helen Keller: The Musical 9/23 - Something You Can Do With Your Finger 9/26 - 412 (that's what the schedule says - maybe they mean "4th Grade"?) 9/27 - Fat Camp 9/28 - Wacky Molestation Adventure 9/29 - Cartman Joins NAMBLA
Thanks. But apparently *not* all stations are running the same episodes, at least not in the same order. KCAL's schedule matches KBHK's above, except that the former is showing two additional episodes from 11:00p-12:00m on Saturdays. On 24 Sep. they were "Damien" and "Pip", and according to zap2it.com on 01 Oct. they'll be "Terrance & Phillip in Not Without My Anus" (another of the very few I'd never seen -- yay! again) and "Cripple Fight!".
Kinda unrelated but I've seen SP advertised as being shown on many UPN affiliates. Does this mean KCAL is finally going UPN (KCAL & KCBS are both owned by Viacom)? There was talk of it before but KCOP had the UPN contract. Just wondering.
Nope, KCOP 13 is still the local UPN affiliate. I haven't heard anything about a switch, but since I don't watch either of them regularly nor check their listings, I might not notice such a change until it's a fait accompli.
