(POLL) If you were in charge of the MPAA?

     A lot has been made out of the "out-of-touch" desicions of the MPAA.  Even
SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT had it's problems with the organization(yet
they didn't realize that Matt and Trey were taking advantage of them, pity).
So I'm wondering what would you do if you were to take over for Jack Valenti.
     If it was up to me, I'd get rid of the PG-13 reating.  A lot of filmmakers
take advantage of that rating making R-rated films knowing that if they do some
MPAA ass-kissing, they'd get it released as a PG-13.  The toughest decision is
what to do with the NC-17 rating.  I'd like to repalce it with a different
rating(maybe the old M rating before the MPAA got started), but that would
cause as much problems as it did when they replaced the X rating with NC-17.
     But that's just me.

What on earth does NC-17 mean? In the UK we keep it simple:

U = Universal, suitable for all PG = Parental Guidance 12 = Noone under 12 15 = Noone under 15 18 = Noone under 18 R18 = Restricted sales to over 18s only (ie., porn!)

The only weird part in this system is that PG13 is warning kids under 13 years old, but NC17 is not letting anyone 17 AND under. That, and the fact that whether or not you see the movies is more up to the theater. I knew theaters in town that would stop an 11 or 12 year old from going to a PG-13 movie, but others that wouldn't. And some theaters would let 17 year olds into R-rated moves (as they should), while others wouldn't. I remember one day when my friends and I (all 17) were arguing with the manager of the Loews in town when he wouldn't let us in to an R-rated movie. After 5 minutes or so of arguing, 4 15 year olds that we were friends with came out of the showing that preceded ours (with no guardian) and showed him their stubs. That just made him angrier and we didn't get in. At least we got refunds.

I work at a theatre, and ANYONE can get into a movie rated G, PG or PG13, regardless of age.

R's require ID's for either 1 person 18 or older, or everyone in the party if they are 17...
