Censorship of Southpark

I live in the UK, and am currently watch South PArk for the first time on Channel 4. A couple of things have annoyed me, though: In episode 1, When Stan swears at all the ALiens, it is ALL bleeped out. Is this for comedy effect? The word "fuck" is always bleeped out. Does this happen also on UK Sky, other channels TV? Can I get a non-censored video from anywhere?

This does happen on Sky and i think the bleeps are meant to be there as part of the comedy.

It gives you the impression that they don't actually intend to tell you what the actual swear words. However, if you are really good at reading lips (the lip sync is rather accurate), you may catch this:

Kyle: Hey, you scrawny assed shits! What the fuck is wrong with you! YOu must be some kind of fucking asshole to ignore a crying child!

But when you consider what they CAN get away with saying (use of the words bastard, bitch, asshole, dildo), you'd think they'd get away with leaving it in. In the episode, "Chicken Lover" (a.k.a. Chicken F<bleeep>er), they bleep only a tiny portion of the word "fucker", so you can still kinda catch the word anyhow. Incidentally, in the initial airing of "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe" in Canada, they hacked out so many scenes. Among the scenes removed:

-Any dialogue referring to the word "dildo" (Cartman says it a LOT). For example, Cartman calls Ike a dildo (it's bleeped out in the initial Canadian broadcast), and it simply cuts to the bus showing up, instead of Kenny explaining to Stan (or Kyle) what a dildo is (Kenny mumbles something about a dildo being something your mom plays with). -Scenes where Kyle is playing "kick the baby" -Scene where Cartman farts fire on Pip and he dances around while he's on fire

They usually censor the word "shit" as well, although they got away with leaving it in on one episode, "Ike's Wee Wee" (Mr. Mackie says, "That's a ton of hypocritical bullshit!").

Uh huh. Global (Canada's station), Comedy Central (US Cable), and Comedy Network (Canadian cable) all bleep out swear words (with a few exceptions).

The commercially available episodes are all bleeped out. Besides, somehow it's more funny when they bleep it out.
