I would beg to differ that opinion. Mary Kay was an awesome voice actress, but there are many voice actresses out there with incredible ranges and wonderful talents, and to say "no actress has the range she had with all her characters" is doing a disservice, IMHO, to several of the actresses out there.
Whether any of them could replace Mary Kay is another story altogether, though.

Both have a point, but Mary Kay's distinct voice added alot to the personalities of the characters and made them what they are. Duckman fans (the few that still exist) remember how much Charles (or was it Mambo) sucked after Dana Hill died. Her voice made the character. It's the same thing with the Simpsons - notice how Troy Mclure or Lionel Hutz (two very entertaining characters in my opinion) have not had ONE appearance since the death of Phil Hartman. Without his voice, those characters will never be the same. Still South Park lacks the rigidity of the Simpsons, it's humor relies on "less is more" (e.g. the crappy animation makes it all the more humorous to watch) so perhaps a voice replacement would not distort the show as much as one would think.

I forsee a time from now, when the book on the history of the South Park series is written, when Mary Kay passed away, her voices then being done by another voice actress for the rest of the series, and fanboys will *still* be arguing their preferences for which voice actress they preffered, like some sort of "which Darin was better on Bewitched?" debate.
Aside from being abut 13 characters on SP, Mary Kay juggled countless other voices and was a fantastic singer in any one of them. I dont know about you, but I prefer the original Darren. ^_~

Last season?!? Are you nuts!!! Those voices weren`t so unique that any talented voice-over artist couldn`t impersonate them. Did anyone notice when Billy West took over as Ren when John K. got booted? (I`m talking voices, not scripts), or when Dick Sargent replaced Dick York on Bewitched? (or was it the other way around?), I think not!

An alternative would be to audition various people for the roles of at least 5 female characters.Than pick the best of the people who auditioned for the role/s.
