Why does Chef keep saying "Children", even when Cartman is the only one there?

I noticed that too. The first time I thought I'd heard him wrong, but he said it at least 4 more times. Of course Cartman being as "festively plump" as he is takes up enough space for 2 or 3 kids. That's my guess.

Maybe it's the same reason Stan and Kyle always say "THEY killed Kenny" even when one person/object/entity does it. Maybe all of South Park has a severe case of double vision.

Because it's funny! Why ask for more? I don't think it's a fat joke. He's probably too busy thinking about making sweet love to pay attention to such details.

he always calls them children, and as was said before, he just said what he normally does, and cartman is big boned.

Chef always addresses Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and/or Kenny as children. --unless he is referring to them in the third person, or as a sign of respect-- In chef's (Shaft's) mind, all they are is crazy crackers, normally not deserving of the respect to be recognized as an individual. The underlying overtones of racism are applied with a subtle touch, but in such a way that might bring the world's races together. United in one race. I think we should call it the Human race.

Maybe we can get together with the aliens and the cows and have one big foot race. It could be great if only we could keep Nike and Kathy lee's damn sweat shops out of the sponsor-roles.

Also, he's pissed at the white fucks for oppressing him and his restaurant-style dreams.

He did the same thing in the Tom's Rhinoplasty episode. When he shows up at the party, he says "Here's your present, children". He has called Stan and Kyle by name, but never Cartman. I thought it was hilarious. He also addressed Leonard Maltin by his first and last name every time.

When you put the four boys together, they make one complete child - Stan- super ego, Kyle- ego, Cartman - id, Kenny - subconscious (and the stuff that bubbles out of his hidden mouth!) When Chef sees one of them, he sees them all.

Either that or Chef's a loon! ;)
