Is it just me...

or did SouthPark just totally take over Beavis and Butthead's audience? B&B was good in the day, but I think that SP is funnier than any B&B episode!!

I think it's a different style of humor. I like 'em both, and for entirely different reasons. YMMV, of course.

Oh, i don't know about that..... Volcano wasn't as funny as "Cartman Gets Abducted" but "Weight Gainer 4000" Was a lot funnier than Volcano..... they can't all be perfect. and it's only natural to use the funniest one as the premier to get people hooked, But even Volcano was better than 90% of whats on TV.

Is it just me, or are the episodes of SP becoming increasingly less funny? "Spirit of Christmas" had me cracking up in class days after first seeing it. I figured the show would be much less funny because they had to edit most of the really foul language. I was pleasantly surprised by the alien episode (the first one on TV, right?), but ever since then it's just become worse and worse. In the Kathy Lee Gifford ep, the rats didn't even eat Kenny! In the Gay Al's Boat Ride ep, Chef didn't really sing a song (which are becoming increasingly less cool, also). What's next, Kenny doesn't die??

South Park kicks ass!!!! I used to watch Law&Order on NBC at this time-but now I can't wait for Wednesday at 9.It definately kicks B and B's ass,and also Bart Simpson....

I've basically felt the same way, *but* I know it's common to feel a bit disappointed after the novelty of the whole concept wears off and then decide for oneself that the first show was the best and none of the others measured up. Maybe #5 and #6 coming up will be more innovative/engrossing and rewardingly evil.

When you think about it, there probably aren't tons & tons of songs that would fit the *exact* type that's required when Chef sings. In addition to content, the style has to be vaguely recognizable to the audience -- and that style isn't current; it's more late-1970s-ish than contemporary. So it's probably one of the hardest parts of the show to write.

At first, I agreed with the many people who thought the episodes were getting worse. In fact, the first time I saw the latest episode, I was disappointed since I didn't find it very funny. However, after watching "Big Gay Al" several times (what can I say, I like SP), I've actually come to like it just as much as the first 3, although Volcano is probably my favorite so far. I guess it's humor was a little more subtle than the others.

The highlights of the latest (for me) are the popular line, "Super, thanks for asking!" and especially Jimbo's comment: "God-DAMN I love football." Gets a laugh out of me every time.

I agree with Justin. The first time I saw/taped the 3rd episode w/KLG I wasn't impressed. The next day I watched it twice finding it pretty funny, not hilarious, but still good. I guess some of the humor has to wear on you, unlike in the first episode where it just kinda comes out and smacks you in the face.
