Are The Creators Of SP As Racist As The Show Itself?

I am just curious as to whether the creators of SouthPark are as racist and antisemetic as the show itself. Perhaps the show is simply their alter-ego.

It's okay for minorities to make racist jokes or comments but it's a crime if white people make those kinds of jokes. Well, can people learn to laugh at themselves? I have friends of all different ethnic backgrounds and they make jokes of their own people, and if I tell them a joke of their ethnicity, they laugh at it. Geez, if you don't like the show b/c it's racist or bigoted, then don't watch it. Nobody's forcing you to watch it. Secondly, why watch it just to criticize it. Besides, people who pull the racist bullshit on me can blow me.

Yeah!!! I am a black American, and I have to say that South Park is my favorite show. In my opinion, the black stereotypes only make it funnier. No one who makes South Park is racist. Only the people on South Park are racist. South Park takes there racist stereotypes, and make them look stupid. Whatever the racist remark may be, the morals at the end of each episode teach the viewers that they are wrong. South Park has a lot of reality in it, and it shows how people are in real life. Third graders in many communities actually use that much profanity, even towards adults. Kenny is a special case. Kenny is such a vulgar and perverted person, that they had to muffle what he says, in order to prevent a parent and feminist uprising against the show. He says stuff like, "Maybe you can touch her pussy." That way, only South Park Maniacs and Enthusiasts who listen to the tape of the episode millions of times, or go to websites can understand what they are saying. And everything that 8 yr old Kenny says is something that a real 8 yr old, or younger would say at recess. South Park is the best show on television, as well as the most socially realistic cartoon on this planet. Please don't let anyone get the wrong message of this cartoon. If an issue rises, I am going to fight to the death for this show. We should burn Liebermann at the stake for trying to ban SP websites. South Park is not racist. It is satirical. The only problem I have with it is that some of the jokes really do come at the expense of minorities. Actually, I don't have a problem with it, but it is a valid criticism. But every joke is loaded, and their message is never racist. Mr. Garrison's actions just point out to us that there are adults who really think like that, and they may be in positions to influence our children. They make fun of the stupid things people do, but not really the people. They make fun of gays and homophobees, jews and christians, they make fun of blacks and whites, etc., but not because they are black, white, christian, jewish, etc. Notice that anytime someone is acting closed-minded on the show, they are also looking really stupid. I wish they would make even more fun of religion, personally. Shucks, must be the fervent agnostic in me.

But don't forget that while most SP episodes have racist, homophobic, anti- Semetic jokes, a lot of them (believe it or not) teach a lesson at the end. For example, after all the "gay homosexual" comments in the "Sparky" episode, what is the message at the end? "It's OK to be gay!" And the xmas episode, after all the Jew stuff, shows that everyone can celebrate during the holidays. South Park educational.....who would have thought it?

IMHO: How can you call SP racist and antisemitic? How can you spell antisemitic with 2 e's? I don't believe for one second that the Creators are in any way racist. Just because a character in the show says Kyle's mom is a dirty Jew doesn't mean the person who wrote the show or speaks the line hates Jews. In fact, if I had to guess, I would say that Matt Stone, who I'm pretty sure does Kyle's voice, is Jewish and I wouldn't be surprised if Trey Parker (Stan?) is gay. I think you may be right about Kyle and Stan being their respective alter-egos. Kyle is dealing with being the only Jewish kid in a predominantly non-Jewish area and Stan is taught a lesson that it's O.K. to be gay. They've mentioned in interviews that these kids are based on themselves when they were growing up in Colorado.

The theme of this show is making fun of things which warrant being made fun of, i.e. Cathy Lee Gifford, racism, irresponsible hunters(redundant?), people who are overly sensitive to things like religious themes displayed in public in December and the spineless governments who oblige them, John Stamos' older brother, parents who protest to 'objectionable' entertainment instead of shutting off the T.V and spending valuable time with their kids, etc., etc.

I think we've learned something here today. South Park is not about hurting people of a certain race or religion or sexual preference. It's about cleverly poking fun at people who deserve it and it's about making jokes about things going into and coming out of peoples' asses.

Anyone who thinks SP is racist doesn't quite understand subtle humor. It's the late '90s version of Archie Bunker railing away at blacks; the point is not that the character (e.g., Garrison wondering about getting rid of Mexicans; Cartman complaining about homosexuals; etc.) is right but rather that he is not only dead wrong, but also stupidly so.
