That may be the misconception many may have about Bob & Margaret. Originally, it was based on the short "Bob's Birthday," which was a co-production between the National Film Board of Canada and Britain's TV network "Channel Four." It seems very ironic how a short that is considered British be also Canadian. I think the creators Snowden and FIne currently live in Canada, although they once worked in Britian.
Many countries may define nudity in many ways. Canada's NFB films do have sprinkles of such inuendos in many of their films. The 1978 Academy Award animated short "Special Delivery" may bring this to mind, as a dead mailman had been striped and left laying ona chair untill the wife shows up. The Cartoon Network showings of these NFB films may not be handled the same way as they are treated by our neighbors of the north. Showings of Bob's Birthday had a leaf digitally placed on the naughty parts. Britian and parts of Europe may have the same thought about this too. Maintaining that many of their programs are chuck-fulled of sex, nudity, dialogue, even things that shouldn't be seen on TV. Many of us may remember the defecation scene from Nick Park's "Creature Comforts."
This series is a Canadian-British co-production of both Nelvana (animated in the Philipines) and Channel Four, produced in assoc. with Canwest Global System (network airing the series in Canada). Although Comedy Central (U.S.) was somewhate involved in this too. It's had to say for sure wrether or not they have fully realized the humor and/or content of the show itself. Let's just hope Comedy Central doesn't screw this one up,or even stop running the sereis alltogether.
It would be sweet to see at least somebody naked on South Park. It's hard to say how well nudity can be animated with paper cutouts.
