More un-censored programming on cable.

I'm sorry that this is completely off topic, but I just had to comment on this. I was just now channel surfing and stopped on AMC <American Movie Clasics> because I saw there was a Vietnam movie on and it turned out to be "Apocalypse Now". Since I love war movies I decided to leave it. Well lo and behold! It is completely uncensored! not even "Fuck" was bleeped, let alone shit, and the others. It just caught me completely by surprize, not because I got offended (far from it), but because I've never seen this done before on cable TV (exept ofcourse for pay channels and the "infamous" shit during "Ike's Wee Wee"). This reminded me of what someone mentioned on one of the post about "Shit on TV", that technically cable channels are not bound by FCC rules on the ussage of foul language like Broadcast stations are because cable is not transmitted through the air waves which are considered a "public" medium, or something to that effect. Infact I think its great that a cable network, AMC of all channels!, finally had the balls to exercise those rights. Maybe it took a program like South Park to show the television world that IT IS possible to push the limits of censorship and that society as a whole would not be thrown into complete chaos and madness because of it. Well atleast thats what I beleive in my own little fatasy world. ;-)

Hmm, pay channel? well I wasn't aware of that since it's always been free to us here, but come to think of it, many people pay for the Disney channel but we also get it free here. That must be the case witn AMC then, oh well, thanks for bursting my bubble, hehehe.

I have never paid for AMC either & I'm one MEDIA1. So far as swearing on TV there must be some loopholes in FCC regs as not long ago a UHF channel in Boston ran Deer Hunter uncut, no violence, and it's a real violent film, nor language deleted or bleeped. Of course they announced before & during what they were doing. I never heard of any gripes legal or otherwise. They weren't even cable, just a lousy UPN type station.

I think you can say shit on cable. Comedy Central has before when they did commentary on the State of the Union, PBS has it frequently, once I even caught a little bit of this astronaut show on TBS where they said bullshit. (and USA blanks out damn or bitch from their movies, go figure) I've always thought it's strange how you can say crap on network tv but not shit. Don't they mean the same thing? I use them interchangebly.

It's not in the game, it comes from the original comic, the collected volume Surfing the Highway has all of the Sam and Max comics, sells for about $16, I was able to pick one up at Barnes and Noble, one hell of a funny read. Definately get it if you enjoy the game or the cartoon on Fox.
