I can't understand why everyone is so pissed off about the clever and interesting twist on the whole "Who's Cartman's Father??" thing. Someone even mentioned suing the writers....God, they don't owe you anything, they try to entertain you, if you feel that the form doesn't meet your standards, that's your problem....They owe you nothing, in fact you have the priviledge of sitting on your couch and laughing your ass off once a week, shit some of you probably watch the same episode over and over again...I have no problem with that, I've even done it myself before, but if you don't like the story line, don't watch it...Shit, if you think you can do it better write and sell your own show. Frankly I liked the way the Cartman's father thing turned out, I think people would have bitched and moaned just as much if it turned out that there was a more conventional answer to this question a la "It shouldn't have been Chef, it should have been Mr. Hat because I picked him in the pool we ran in my fifth grade reading class." Exactly. Let's consider the answers:
1. That hermafalite (however you spell it) thing: Hilarious, unexpected. Made me say 'can you do that on TV?!'
2. One of the suspects: Would have changed the entire series, even if it was Chief or the Broncos, because they probably would have moved in and gotten married to Ms. Cartman. It would have been stupid, too ('Oh, Garrison, big deal. I told you so.')
3. His father is revealed and then dies: We would have even MORE people bitching about how lame the answer was.
4. Alien: Wouldn't work. Trust me. It would have made things too weird. ('Hey guys, my dad is taking me to Jupiter for the weekend, anyone wanna come?')
5. It was all a dream and Cartman has always had a father: Once again it would effect the series too greatly.
You see, I find the hermafalite answer was the best possible thing. But, there has been a point to all of this: it has given me an idea for a new fanfic: "South Park In Space" a.k.a "Cartman's Dad, the Real Truth, and Nothing But the Truth" (seriously! Well, maybe not the Cartman's dad part...)
I have to take exception to being drug into this. This was my theory. You can't drag up ONE post (that I authored) complaining about this ep. Or any ep, for that matter. My complaints are with the trolls, flamers, and the "obviously you..."'s. I understand it would have been too time consuming to make absolutely sure, but come on.

I saw the 'dream' theory as a theory a couple of times, once in which someone suggested his dad being Patrick Duffy. I was just trying to explain why Parker and Stone had to do what they did, for all those people who were saying 'They could only come up with THAT?!' Maybe you WERE the only one who posted that theory and I overlooked it. Sorry if you misunderstood and sorry if I offended you.
I know. The exact same thing happened with the "Who Killed Mr.Burns" ep of the simpsons. It's just a thing like this gets built up so much that everyone expects something so fantastic, it'll be the greatest thing in TV history. Shit, I think Matt and Trey did a GREAT job. I think it did get on the nerves of people who actually took this seriously. I mean, as a drama. It's a comedy, for god's sake.
