Paper Cut or Computer?

I know all modern SP episodes are made from Computer Animation, but in the Anal
Probe episode I noticed shadows and the movement was akward. Was this intended,
was this just Trey and Matt getting used to making the show, or was Anal Probe
Paper cut? (Highly doubtful)

I like the "blur", although it really looks more like a shadow. I lke the 3D-sorta look you get out of it. Reminds me of the panoramas we did back in elementary school.

The images are cut from construction paper and then scanned into computers to animate. So, in fact, both mediums are used.

I think this first one was actually done manually with the cut-outs. I remember reading some where that one of the guys said it was a miserable experience doing the pilot this way, which is why they now do the computers. I know that this wasn't the original pilot episode, but maybe it is a version of it, using the same footage.

The unaired Anal Probe episode was made entirely with construction paper and similar methods. Those of you who have that episode will see that while things are different, they're consistent throughout the episode.

However, the Anal Probe episode shown on TV is an edited version of the unaired version. It uses a lot of the same footage as the unaired version, but they had to make some new scenes. And you can identify the new scenes because they have the new "computerized" look. For example, notice the original character had a wider selection of mouth "cutouts", and Mr. Garrison and Cartman both had their mouths a lot lower on their faces originally. And computer-generated scenes tend to have brighter colors and more "exactness"; the desks in the classroom are aligned better than those done by hand. And another thing: in computer-generated scenes, characters' legs NEVER move when they walk (at least so far). In the construction-paper scenes, you might notice some characters' legs moving, but not all the time. For example, when Kyle's running on the bus. Ironically, moving legs would probably be made /easier/ with computers...

If you're paying enough attention, you'll be able to find the scene in "An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig" that was actually cut from the unaired episode.

Sorta off the subject. All new SP's are done on SUN systems. All praise the mighty SUN.

Probably Solaris. SunOS is a little out dated.
