However, rather than let this thread degenerate into an "everybody list their favorite bands" free-for-all, I would recommend that the artists in question have at least some relevance to South Park, even if it's only tangential.
Examples:
Primus Isaac Hayes Loverboy The Time The Cure (how 'bout a duet w/ Streisand?)
I also would suggest the likes of Ween or They Might Be Giants, as the vocals and musical arrangements are inherently "cartoonish".

Personally, I think the idea of having popular bands play the soundtrack SUCKS. But I know for a fact that the soundtrack for Orgazmo has Primus on it, because Trey and Matt are big Primus fans.

Oh god no! I hate fudging Blink182, sure that Dammit song was cute, but their immature kids who think their cool 'cos they play in a band. I saw them play live and all they did was make stupid jokes about masturbation and farts. Well, the Chilis work on the B&B movie was just superb.
Liam is a fan. (my mate Gizz is the guitarist in this band) You may spot a little model of Eric Cartman on the keyboards, if you've seen this band live on the recent US tour.
Anyway, the Chemical Brothers will be on the forthcoming Southpark thing CD. Not exactly Prodigy, but I do know that a lot of Prodigy fans like Chemical Brothers.

Speaking of country music, i heard a while back *a few months* that country music is the most listened to music in the country - and I had a little informal study of my own. I drive a school bus and the VAST majoity *about 75%* of all students I drove wanted Country. And out of drivers the WAY VAST majority *about 90%* listened to country.
