There is at least one other, a writer/performer, considered one of the founding fathers. He use to write those 20 second bits with scenic videos & schmatzy music. Can't think of his name now, it'll come to me 2 nanoseconds after I hit send.
Don't forget Denitra Vance who was a cast member for one season and died of cancer a few years back.
Was Andy Kaufman a cast member or just a frequently featured guest?

Andy Kaufman doesn't count as an allumni. He was only a gurest star on some episodes. Steve Martin is another example.

well, it wasn't really Hartman's fault. He was shot. All the others though were drug addicts who OD'd and I for one think the world is better off

Kaufman wasn't a regular & didn't die from drugs(neither did Radner & of course Hartman). Andy's bad luck was that even tho he never smoked a day in his life he died from lung cancer. So all in all considering the show has been on steady for over 20 years & has had a cast greater than the Manhatten phone book only a few people have died. I'd say it was an oddity in the other direction.

I don't know about Any Kaufman, he was supposed to have died of a heartattck.
Gilda Radner, I seriously doubt was a drug addict. She had some kind of cancer that went into remission for a few years and eventually killed her.
A rare form of lung cancer. Kaufman was not known to smoke, drink, or use drugs.

Hartman was on his third marraige, and was about to end it. His wife had problems in the past with drugs, alcohal, and controlling her temper, and Phil made the mistake of telling her it was over, then going to sleep in the house which had a gun in it.
There is NO OTHER comedic television show in history that has been on the air longer than SNL. Eventually, they're going to get a few tradgedies in their history. Just like Cheers, which lost a cast member in its 10 year+ history. Had they kept making episodes, chances are someone might die along the way.

There's nothing coincidental about it. Death happens everyday. It's not like they all died in the same year or something. The only remotely 'eerie/ strange/whatever you wanna call it' situation is that both Belushi and Farley died at the same age (33), of the same cause.
That, and all 5 SNL alumni you have listed above each have 11 letters in their name. Now, if Adam Sandler's the next to go.. then I'll be spooked. Otherwise, it's all just a process we must confront in our lives.. regardless of being a part of SNL, a chess club, the Jackson family, or whatever.

If you look at the original post, Mike stated that this movie being filmed on a a-test site was responsible for JW's death (what was it '76?) 20 years after that movie was made.
I still disagree with the statement "The Conquerers", "was responsible for the cancer death of...John Wayne." My original post stated that in JW's case, the cause of his cancer was more likely his well documented chain-smoking, and I hold to that statement.
I do not deny that there may be a cancer cluster formed around this group of people, hell it's very likely considering the above ground testing that went on at that time, and how little was known about the long term effects of exposure for even short periods to radioactive fallout.
Think about this though, which do you see as being the more likely cause of JW's lung cancer?
a) Smoking 80 cigarettes a day for at least 30 years. b) Spending 13 weeks at a former test site, and getting cancer 20 years later.
Anyway, I know this has nothing to do with SP, but then again, neither does this thread...

A couple comments:
Andy Kaufman was never an SNL cast member. True, he made frequent appearances in the classic years, but sorry, doesn't count.
There are, of course, more than these 5 deaths, but they're the most popular of the deceased alums. There was the guy who always played Nancy Reagan in the mediocre early 80's years who died of AIDS. There was a black woman at the same time who also died. And then there's Dan Aykroyd's career, Joe Piscopo's brain, and now the show itself is on life support.
And I can't claim to have felt too deep a loss when I heard Chris Farley kicked it. It's sad when people die that young, and I wouldn't have wished it on him, but I never found him solidly funny. He had moments, but nothing he could have built a career on.
Now David Spade, on the other hand, should die painfully. What an annoying little prick.
