I know he's some ice skating guy but why do they beat on him in the movie.

Yes, Brian Boitano is a Canadian ice skater. As for the beating (aka Jesus-like admiring) of him, this all dates back to the Spirit of Xmas, in which the boys, upon seeing Jesus and Santa fighting each other, wonder what Brian Boitano do in a situation like this.
