Sorry I couldn't post for a long while there, I was exiled to the highest depths of siberia and force fed cheezy poofs but hey I'm back :) So how they hell is everyone? The first point about Sabbath: they influenced the musical scene more than Zep. It is an established fact that neither invented metal, but Sabbath invented *heavy* metal. The unique atmosphere that Sabbath created was more groundbreaking than anything that Zep did, and in thirty years of imitation, it's still unequaled today. Every musician of the eighties listened to Sabbath as a teen, and it shows through. By providing the catalyst for thrash and grunge, they changed the world forever.

The second point about Sabbath: staying power. Heard Reunion? They're in their early fifties now, and they sound fresh out of the studio where they cut Paranoid. Tell me one other band which existed through the sixties, seventies, eighties and nineties and is still looked upon as leaders. After thirty years, they're keeping metal alive and well.

The third point about Sabbath: they wrote the finest riffs in history. You can pare the sound down to a few notes, and it's still great; it would sound equally good on a subdued cello or screaming electric guitar. Off the top of my head, Nirvana's the only band which managed this.

The fourth point about Sabbath: "Beyond the Wall of Sleep" is the greatest song of all time.

The fifth point about Sabbath: they have a much cooler name.

Sabbath and Malmsteen all the way, dude. (Yngwie Malmsteen: a Swedish guy tied for the title of best guitarist of all time with Hendrix and Rhodes.)
