M. Kay = m'kay ?

Perhaps, this is not the best time to bring this up, but all these posts about Mary Kay had me wondering. Could her name (M. Kay) have been Matt and Trey's inspiration for Mr. Mackey and his saying "m'kay"?

Wow. I never thought of that. Very observant, no idea if it holds merit or not.

Reminds me of the debates a few years ago in the Star Trek universe, where the Romulans had their secret elite spies called the "Tal Shiar". One bold dude suggested that it came from the one episode where they sent Tasha Yar back in time, and she was captured by the Romulans. Tal Shiar... Tasha Yar?

no i don't think so i think they just have m'kay as a funnier and better sounding version of: ok i love how he says that it cracks me up everytime i hear it

The female half of our apt. management team says "M-kay" and I had to point out to her why I kept smiling evey time she said it. She doesn't lie SP either.

It's not that it's funnier or better, it's that it's more condescending and patronizing.
