You can use Outlook Express to download binaries, it is just a lot of work and slow. Select all parts, and Combine and Decode. I like NewsBin Pro, some like Forte Agent or BNR for easier downloading and yEnc support. It seems like your ISP's news server does not carry binary newsgroups if you cannot find any. You will need to subscribe to a pay news server like GigaNews if that is the case. Too bad. The binary news groups are the coolest thing on the internet. BTW, I just finished watching BASEketball. It was a funny movie. Matt and Trey were great. Trey even did a Cartman imitation once.

Thanks for the info on the binaries. I've been d'ling everything off I-Mesh, which is like Kazaa, but I've had too many viruses on my computer because of it, so I'm looking for something like it.

I've tried to use Outlook Express to get binaries from the newsgroups. It seems that "Combine & Decode" works great in some cases, but doesn't work in others. When it fails, it creates one large message of gibberish and takes several minutes to "scan message for hyperlinks". After all that, the end result is useless. Is it perhaps the case that the type of encoding (yEnc) is confusing OE?

Yes, OE cannot handle yEnc by it's self. Use yProxy from: http://www.brawnylads.com to use yEnc with OE.

Have link to yProxy in Startup folder. Configure yProxy to your news server and OE to 127.0.0.1=News Server.

For my downloading needs, I use a free program called "Binary News Reaper". Far from perfect, but it's the best one I've seen imo
