$40 a tape?!? What the hell?!?

Open letter to the guy charging $40 a tape:

Dear scum,

I've been getting lots of mail recently, ever since the 'did pegasus rip us off' thread. A *lot* of people have asked if I still have the tapes available. I have decided to once again offer my compilation tape. A *BIG* reason is because you have no fucking right to charge $40 a tape for nothing but tv episodes. That's fucking outrageous, and if I have to start taking orders again to make sure you don't rip anyone off, then fine. I'll do it. The offer stands. 6 episodes, Spirit of Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, and if possible to fit it on there, the Halloween special. Two shorts, 7 episodes, $10. So shove your $40 offer right up your ass, motherfucker.

Yeah... there's a huge difference between piracy and highway robbery- charging $40 for a tape of somebody else's hard work is highway robbery.

Technically, nobody has any fucking right to sell Comedy Central's property without their permission- that's the law that Warner Brothers used to crack down on the TTA fan sites before, and more recently led to the death of the best Simpson's sites.

$40 is probably about what the stores will charge for a two-tape set if the first season is released on video, but that would be a high-quality SP dub on 'professional' machines, with packaging, store markup, etc.

The only thing worse than pirating intellectual property is pirating as a profit-making business venture.

The difference between the $10 and the $40 price is that the guy charging $40 is a lot more likely to be prosecuted :-)

If that's all you have, I've got you whipped for sure. Not only do I have one of the original floppies, a 7 maybe 9 incher, I also have magnetic tapes. Not the modern ones, the old spooled ones. In varying sizes and different colored cases. I'll start taking offers now.....

Hehheh...I think I've got you all beat. I still have (in working order) my very first computer - a Commodore Vic-20! It uses a cassette tape drive, a 6502 processor(about 4 Mhtz), no hard drive, and a grand total of 3.5 K ram! I did splurge and add a 5 K RAM expansion cartridge. ^^^^^ ^^^ For those of you not familiar with this, notice I said 'K' ram, not megs!
