Having sung the "real" version of O Tannenbaum in German classes in high school, lo these many years ago, Hitler's version sounds nothing like the German words are supposed to sound. At the most, it sounds like someone with a bad German pronunciation guide singing it (pronouncing "nie" as "nye", etc.).
It's not supposed to be in *Yiddish*, godforbid, is it?

Everything went onto pape, there were no monitors yet.] Man, I remember how much fun it was to cause system errors and create this code where unknown characters were three-deep rows of asterisks, and there was one illegal character we called "shift" that turned the IBM typeball and paused it. And then there were the "squirrels" who hacked into the operator's file and unlocked all the operator functions... But you had to be careful if you were going to crash the system and do it from a remote terminal using an anonymous user file number. There was also a big fat asshole from IBM sitting there like a toad watching over everthing...

The reason they pronounce the Japanese words so correctly is that Trey knows Japanese. He was majoring in it before he dropped out. They do suck at German, though.
