there was a girl who worshipped the ground that Trey Parker walked on. She read everything that he & Matt Stone she could get her hands on, and began to archive as much of his work as was possible. She bought all his crap about wanting to get married and have babies, and wanting to marry someone who knew the difference between astronomy and astrology...

And then...

she read David Goodman's articles at Salon.com. They were funny and smart and she liked them, but she started having misgivings about her idolatry of Trey Parker, especially in light of his schmoozing of the ladies in Vegas, and the Swedish models. But since she believes in being open about one's body, she cut him some slack, although big money = beautiful women in Trey's universe and that can lead down an ugly road. That road was called Playboy Interview Avenue, where she got to read about how Trey has sometimes gone overboard in his addiction to women. And how he likes to make blanket statements, specifically about Potheads, who happen to be some of the most peaceful and intelligent people she knows. Not everyone becomes a moron on marijuana, even if this happens to be the case with Mr. Parker. She has read several articles where Trey has referenced an interest in drugs, and has specifically mentioned "e", as showing him a good time. Now this same woman has also tried "e" on more than a half a dozen occassions, and has quite a few friends who've been known to indulge their taste for the treat, along with meth and other recreational drugs. And she has observed that the seratonin blast that transforms your psyche on "e" can turn you into a son of a bitch for a couple of days afterward, and almost impossible to live with. Now that is not the case for all people who take "e", and she herself had a beautiful epiphiny on the drug that lasted for several months.

The point is this: Trey & Matt are excellent at breaking down the stereotypes, at bucking convention, and refusing to sit back and let apathy, fear or opposition prevent them from saying what they want to say. She just thinks it sucks that Trey would condemn a group of people as brainless just because the interface between mind and marijuana works a lot better for them.

This of course, will not impede her enjoyment of their body of work, it has only pointed up that Trey is no Prince Charming.

And that the lady involved is quite gullible to believe things she reads if she really expects celebrities to tell about their real lives or what they really think. After all, isn't -every- episode their favorite?

Sad to say, as Rona Jaffe said a long time ago, Mr. Right is dead. It would be a waste of time to look for him.

I can relate to what you wrote. There are a number of positions he's held with which I strongly disagree, both in print and on the show.

But, although Trey may not be a perfect man, he's still a terrific artist despite his flaws. What else can we fans ask for?
