Their post-show, pre-credit bantering WAS becoming a little aggravating. Especially last week when the announcer chatted it up about how good Drawn Together was during the Paris Hilton song.
I laughed when the critters first revealed that they worshipped Satan, but I agree that the rest of it was mediocre. But then when it turned out to be a story written by Cartman, it made sense -- he couldn't possibly turn out an interesting story, just an elaborate scheme to ridicule Kyle.
Of course, the little Jewish boy, Kyle, could do better. Much better. I'm sure he could really ridicule Stan's fat ass to hell. Or would that be Stan? Anyway, why doesn't Kenny do something? Its not anyone can understand him anyway but I'm sure if they could he would make a lot of sense.
The reason is that they've been allowed to be as politically incorrect as necessary in support of the humor. I'm frequently amazed at how far they've been allowed to go on a basic cable network (as long as it remains popular, I suppose money trumps politics). It doesn't always work, but when it does it's great.
As has Chapelle's Show, which wasn't a hit in the censored televised version, but became the best selling DVD set of all. Even Matt and Trey couldn't have gone as far Dave has.

Homophobic? How can it be homophobic? The creators are homosexuals! South Park *celebrates* homosexuality. In every episode there's at least one thing that promotes a homosexual lifestyle.
As for disrespectful of the handicapped...yeah, that's great. That's one group that needs to be taken down a peg or two. Timmy is my favorite character. I love it when he and Jimmy get into a cripple fight. NOW *THAT'S* HUMOR!
Perhaps that impression comes from the fact that most of the homosexuals on the show are extreme stereotypes. So it seems like they're making fun of gays, not celebrating the lifestyle.

You're right. But just about *every* portrayal on the show is taken to extremes. Remember the "cripple fight"? They had two handicapped children re-enact the entire fight scene from "They Live". Christians turn away from the bible and they start *shitting out of their mouths*. Cartman watches "The Passion Of The Christ" and starts a program to exterminate the Jews.
Matt and Trey are not, in any sense of the word, subtle. Nor do they spare their barbs for even those causes, such as homosexuality, which they hold dear. It's one of the best things the show has going for it. There's very little hypocrisy in this program, if any at all.

I think you misunderstood. They show people exaggerating about a cause from the left and the right and the children of the show play as the middle ground telling them to not overact about everything. Personally, I wish they could just go back to the good old days of simple designs, Barbara Streisand robots and Kathy Lee Gifford assassinations. Their parody is good, their satire needs work.
No, it's satire, and good satire is occcasionally supposed to make you pause and wonder if the authors are on the level. To suggest the creators of SP are actual bigots is to operate on a zero intellectual level.
Who picks a name like *j*? And if you must *know* it was my husband. I don't feel like repeating the story. You can find it explained in alt.gossip.royalty.
Looking back through the various references included in past posts, I would suspect a certain post from Googlegroups. That may be a bias on my part, but it is often the case these days that Google posts are used by those that wish to evade tracing when they do something questionable on Usenet (the usual way is to use a free e-mail account to register for a Google posting account, thus making it harder to directly trace them).
However, looking back directly at what I have to hand in the thread, the earliest culprit I still have dates back to 20-Dec-2004 @ 09:40 GMT posting from the usenetserver.com domain, Message ID: under the pseudonym "Citizen_Cain" (e-mail address munged). This service, from what I can make out from the webpage they have, provides anonymous posting for users. This has its uses, but you can see where it might cause a problem too when somebody uses it for spamming or trolling.
Note that I have not gone back to the start of the thread, so you could in theory use the Message ID above to trace earlier posts before you give the "Citizen_Cain" user any real grief. However, I am reading their TOS right now, and would advise any UNS user to refer to section 5 under the document stored at http://www.usenetserver.com/terms.html regarding the misuse of their services. It makes interesting reading. ;)

LOL, that line was almost as funny as the whole episode!
I didn't laugh a lot at this one, but I enjoyed it very much. Good story, nicely surprising in several spots, and I liked the unexpectedly happy part where the mama mountain lion was brought back to life by Santa. Now if only Santa would do that for Jesus...
