These 'guitar licks' from Primus must be an acquired taste. Because personally, I think they sound awful. I mean really freakin' terrible. It sounds like a drunk banjo. South Park is a great show, but they gotta do something about both the opening theme song, and the closing credits song. Does Primus actually press this dyslexic string music onto a CD and charge you for it? I like all kinds of music: pod, dance, hip-hop, R&B, rock, heavy metal, even classical (carmina burana). But these Primus tunes are down right annoying as hell.

(I didn't post Brown Album, Pork soda, or Tales from Punchbowl as those are when primus started getting , how should i say it...as close to mainstream as their music can)

Scratched myself a bit, poured me out a bowl of Corn Chex; the closest thing I could find to an apple pie. Lingerin taste of toothpaste made the milk go down a bit funny, but you know them chex they do satisfy...oh yeah, gonna be a fine day!

Exactly, after I saw the show the first time, I was like "what the hell is this?". My theory is that there is a basic 20-bar song with a solo space in the middle, and every week a new solo is popped in. And yes, as Vince said, we in Canada don't have to put up with announcements in the middle, and we don't have previews on the telly so we don't know what each week's show is about (unless you read the guide, the show's listing for the year, or the newsgroups, since its on Wednesdays in the US and Fridays in Canada).

Anyways, acquired taste, but good.

Primus has been using banjo's on their last three albums, so I bet that is what it is.. And knowing Larry, he is probably drunk or something.. So I guess you are all knowing and powerfull

I believe it's Les Claypool of Primus.

While we're on the subject, there seems to be quite a bit to that song, but you never hear all of it at once. Plus, Comedy Central often walks over it with their announcements. If someone wanted to take the time, it might be possible to combine and edit WAV files from the endings of all of the episodes in order to recover the whole tune.

It's strange how it seems so totally random and unmusical at first, yet the more you hear it, the more it seems to fall into place.
