Hard to believe but South Park, amidst all its cussing, contains morals in many episodes. Such are:

Mr. Hankey Christmas Special (What is Christmas without Jesus?)

Sexual Harassment Panda (Greed destroys people; Suing harms society)

morals

Hey every episode has a moral, aren't you listening when Kyle or Stan or Kenny in the SP movie say, "I've learned something today ..." :)

Rainforest, Schmainforest moral, know what your cause is all about. Don't just throw money at it to ease your conscience.

Spooky Fish moral, sometimes a murderous fish is just that a murderous fish!

Dude, you totally misunderstood that episode. More like what is Christmas with everybody whining and fussing? Mr. Hankey was the saviour of that episode, not Jesus.

No! What is Christmas without Jesus? Christmas is Christ's Mass, the Mass said to commemorate His birth.

But that's not the lesson...

What kind of Christmas play do we get when a Jewish mother won't let her son participate, and then insist that all references to Christmas be removed so her son can participate? Why should her son participate in something he does not believe in?

In this age of political correctness, if we were to accommodate eveyone, we'd end up with a generic product, just like the school play. And where is the uniqueness in that? The town saw the play and said it sucked!

And so...

Come on, gang, don't fight. You people focus so hard on the things wrong with Christmas that you've forgotten what's so right about it. Don't you see? This is the one time of year we're s'posed to forget all the bad stuff, to stop worrying and being sad about the state of the world, and for just one day say, "Aw, the heck with it! Let's sing and dance and bake cookies."

--- Mr. Hankey.

That's the episodes's lesson, but that is not the meaning of Christmas.

The meaning of Christmas is, let us remember the man, Jesus, who came to this world and died for it, that it may be redeemed. Let us remember the events surrounding His arrival, His birth. Let us remember why He came into this world. All who believe on Him and follow will be saved.

Oh, and we don't need Christmas to forget all the bad stuff, to stop worrying and being sad about the state of the world, and for just one day say, "Aw, the heck with it! Let's sing and dance and bake cookies." All we need is a day, any day. Ideally, every day. We just need to do it one day at a time. We have become too cynical, trying to correct what we think is wrong and overlooking what is already right. That's got to change.

You are free to celebrate it that way if you wish, but winter celebrations on December 25 predate Xianity by a long shot. Later, the Xians hijacked the holiday and have since convinced most people it was Jesus' birthday. There is no historical evidence that Jesus was born on December 25, or any other particular date, for that matter.

So what is Christmas without Jesus? I don't know! "Santa-Day?" The holiday would still be there, although it would have a different name.

Actually Jesus's birthday was in the spring, most people think, since shepherds don't tend their sheep in the winter.

Also, Christmas wasn't originally celebrated at all, there was only Easter. Pope Gregory made it an official holiday on Dec 25, since it was a popular pagan holiday and it would aid in converting pagans into Christians.

Umm, I hate to tell you this but Christianity is a fable. South Park is more real than Christianity.

O! We Xians are just awful that way, ain't we! The Mass held on that day was never meant to convince anyone that Jesus was born on that day. It was meant to show that the Son is greater than the sun, that the Son is truly invincible, that the being to worship was not some sun-god, but the Son of God. And so the Dies Natalis Solis Invictus was countered and then eliminated. And we Xians do know Jesus was not born on that day. That's why we celebrate the events surrounding His birth and not the birthdate itself. One school of thought has Jesus born in the spring, another in the fall, around September 29. We apologize if any of our number deceived any of your number.

Christmas without Jesus would certainly not be a religious holiday. As it is now, it is very much a secular holiday, having returned to its pre-Christian roots. It's just as well...

Well, they got on fine at the end, thanks to Mr. Hankey's speech, while Jesus was left to celebrate his birthday all by himself.

LMAO!! That's my husband's favorite part of the whole episode. He never lets me forward through the credits on my tape so he can watch that.

Actually, that wasn't the point either.

The deal was that Christmas became an absolute sham, so sterile that it was not worth celebrating after it was determined that Jesus couldn't be part of it, because that would offend the Jewish community. Then they couldn't have Santa, because that would offend the Christian community. Then they couldn't have Christmas trees, because that would offend the environmental community.

The point? Even though Christmas was originally a Christian holiday (commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ), there is still something in it for everybody. It was not tailor made for any particular group.

My favorite moral/lesson that's in South Park, is for people not to freak out about every little thing.

I love this show! :)
