My SP movie experience

Where I live, in Olympia, WA, there are two main theaters. One's kinda crappy and one is really crappy. Unfortunately, SP was playing at the really crappy theater. I don't have a car and my car driving friends don't like South Park, so I reluctantly took the bus to the really crappy theater. Good god, is it ever horrible (not the movie, the theater). The right half of the screen was out of focus, and the sound, oh dear Lord, the sound! Everything, especially the songs, was muffled almost to the point of incoherency. I liked the movie, but not as much as I should have because of the CRAPPY THEATER!!! DAMMIT!!! Also, the walls in the theater are thin, and before the movie started, I kept hearing (and feeling) loud rumbling from the adjacent theater. Normally, this wouldn't be so bad, but we had just experienced a 5.5 earthquake the other day and every little rumble freaked me out.

Thanks for letting me rant. By the way, this whole experience has so shaken me that I accidentally posted this on the Star Wars newsgroup first.

Don't go to the crappy theater anymore, they don't know how to work a projector. The film was bowed and they didn't know how to fix it? That print should be toast in a week.

I feel your pain, dude. Are there not any neighboring town theaters you could have gone too? Oh wait, you said you didn't have a car. You're experience is reminscent of the first time I saw the X-Files movie last summer. I TOOK OFF WORK EARLY to go see it (like I did for South Park). I went to one of the better theaters in town (Austin, Texas has movie theaters out the wazoo). I'm sitting there with my popcorn waiting for the whole Mulder-Scully-Alien Conspiracy experience to wash over me but ...

The sound on the film was COMPLETELY FUCKED! You could hear the sound effects just fine, but dialogue sounded like the adults in a Peanuts cartoon: Wah, wah, wah. Mulwah. Sculwah! This went on for the first 30 minutes of the film (most people walked out, but I stayed because it was a fucking hot day and I figured I'd go again to a different theater to catch the beginning). It was kind of cool I stay because as I left the theater they were handing out tickets to come back and see a free movie. The tickets were good for SIX MONTHS!

Get some friends who like South Park AND have a vehicle!

Hehe. :) I put in for the day of the SP release, to get that as a day off from work. They actually did let me have that day off, for once, so I was happy. :)

I got to leave early, which was amazing cause I'd be threatened that if I leave before six too often I'd get canned...I hate that place sometimes! ~>=|

Where I saw the movie, most of the soundtrack sounded okay, except for when Kenny spoke. It seems that every time Kenny said anything the soundtrack would become muffled, but just for the duration of his line. This problem was finally cleared up at the end, when Kenny said "Goodbye, you guys."

I think I should see this film several more times; however many times it takes until the muffled soundtrack is cleared up. That's what Brian Boitano would do!
