1.) I expected this to be revealed to be a fever dream from Stan, a la the clips show. the episode played like a dream. 2.) The kids couldn't figure out for themselves about the good Cartman/bad Cartman? For that reason, why do the evil kids need to put on beards each time they cross the interdomensional barrier, other than to tell the characters apart and to rip off Star Trek? 3.) Mrs. Marsh's menstruation manifests itself as Stan's aunt?! And menopause chez Marsh is Aunt Flo's death!? 4.) There is no reason for the split screen effect for the good kids/bad kids. The effect is done seamlessly, IMO, in live action (exception: the probe tube onboard the Enterprise in Star Trek: The Motion Picture), and with animation, you don't need to shoot the same backgrounds twice for two different versions of the same character when those versions are in the same shot at the same time - all you have to do is devise two CGi renderings of the character and put them into THE SAME SET AT THE SAME TIME. 5.) I now officially despise Parker and Stone because of that cop out at the end. Keeping the "good" Cartman - just to reset the show for next week - and keeping him in the manner portrayed - "good" as evil, "evil" as good - is indescribably cheap. This is especially because while Parker and Stone have repeatedly demonstrated an antiliberal bias in the show, Cartman is the token Hollywood "conservative" thrown in to get the show sold in this country. I would have preferred that the "evil" Cartman stay in our universe, and the show could have him integrate himself into the cast. Hey, it worked for Red Dwarf, right? 6.) I hate to find out what an episode actually SET in that alternate world would be . . . EVIL STAN (weak, dying voice): Ohhhh, my God, Kenny killed me . . . EVIL KYLE (same): You bastard . . . EVIL KENNY (no muffle effects): THAT should teach you not to swear so much and disrespect women!

Why do you consider this to be a cop out? Of course they had to keep the "good" Cartman, since he's one of the main characters. It only makes sense.

Richard- Guess what the above rant makes you?

That's right- A MORON!!! The split-screen effect as you refer to it is JOKE!- A sight gag, A visual PUN! And there YOU are explaining it all for us, like you are a expert on special effects!

It would be forgivable , if it wasn't part of a Psuedo-review of an episode by you that has an attitude of " I'm smarter than the guys who made this crap" Usually I refrain from this kind of flame-posts, but I couldn't help myself when I read your "Review".

Ummm...I thought the split-screen effect was supposed to be a joke--in fact, it was obviously supposed to be a joke, because one time a picture in the background was VERY blatantly split in half. Also, of COURSE the goatee thing was a rip-off of Star Trek--otherwise known as a parody. If you're going to raise such piccayune concerns, at least be you know what you're talking about!

Ben

Naah. You were just reeealy stoned.

Rip off? Try pay homage to.

Again, an homage and a joke. It was just a throw back to the days of no CG effects when they had to film an actor twice and splice the pictures together.

You'd rather they completely write out a character whose evil-ness is the very core of his humour?

<SARCASM> Yeah, "Republicans and Nazis" (Big Bay Al). There's antiliberal bias. </SARCASM>

Try accepting a blow to your own beliefs the way their intended in South Park--as a joke. Finally a show comes along that will insult everything about the status quo. Of course a few of them are going to hit home. Be a big boy. Laugh and move on.

No, Cartman is the foil.

For his birthday, let's all chip in and buy Arthur a copy of the Zapruder film. He'll LOVE it. . . .

Or perhaps a nightmare. You know, sort of like a Halloween episode.

I don't see why not. After all, my first conclusion if a friend starts acing weird is that he's a visitor from another dimension.

Ummm... I think it was a *joke*, i.e. dialogue or situations perpetrated with humorous intent.

Ah. Got that subtle point, did you?

Ummm... wow. You really need help on this *joke* concept, don't you?

Have you had your lithium today?

I think it might be easier if you travelled to the parallel universe and watched the show there. Do send us a postcard.
