Apparently they do, and become one of Satan's most trusted advisors.

You really expected them NOT to put Jon Benet in Hell?

Bill K.Alex Cain

As far as anyone knows, she's not a mormon, is she?

re: JonBenet

No, the Ramseys aren't Mormon.

But why not use her face like all of the others?

Standing next to Satan, Jon-Benet was tiny. I sorta wonder if they tried to use a picture of her face, and found out it was too small to be effective in that scene.

Besides, she wasn't Canadian. ;)

Also, it's one thing to suggest that the little girl was Jon-Benet, but to actually use her picture would have been, in my opinion, a little over the line.

Uh, have you only just recently begun watching SP? The show crosses "over the line" as a matter of routine, and the more sacred the cow, the more likely it is to be skewered. Against the backdrop of all the other taboos the show has broken, nothing about JBR would have been astonishingly tasteless or shockingly over-the-top. We've been through a huge gamut, from relatively tame topics like diarrhea, bestiality, dildos, and herpes, to stuff like a gay Satan, an old woman being fucked to death, and unflattering portrayals of God, Jesus, and Moses, In comparison to this, a nonsensical or satirical reference to a dead kid isn't exactly a kick in the gut.

It's not a question of there being some line, and the distance past which you cross it. Using an actual picture just would have been lame.

I may not have stated my original message quite the way I meant. I really meant that Matt and Trey may have found using her picture as going a bit too far. I'm not sure if either of them has kids, but it just seems to me that a lot of people, even Trey and Matt perhaps, feel that directly mocking a little girl who was murdered, is over the line. I dunno, just my opinion.

By the way, I'm a fairly long time fan of the show, and I don't offend easily at all.

Actually, a direct reference to Jon Benet is not like a stab at Satan, God or even Sally Struthers. I don't think even SP would dare suggest this innocent girl is in Hell. That would be over the line even for them. I am sure they would skirt around it enough for it to be tasteful - in their standards.

Mark Tangard wrote in message news:[email]...

So you're saying that it WASN'T her? Sure looked like it was meant to be.

High TimeAlex Cain

Alex Cain wrote in message news:[email]...

No. I am not saying that at all.

Bill K.Alex Cain

I am quite sure it was her, although I believe they made sure to do it in a way that did not get too far out-of-line, and disgust the viewers instead of amusing them. In fact, the way they had her give words of wisdom and encouragement to a distraught Satan was even kind of cute.

I just looked again, and although it's pretty easy to miss -- and I've seen maybe 2 pictures of JBR, since I avoid that kind of story like Howard does -- I'd have to agree. Who else could it possibly have been?

Dude, it's not a matter of "tact". Matt and Trey are not stupid. They are not tasteless just for the sake of being tactless. They know what is funny and what is not.

Dude, if Gandhi can be in Hell, then ANYBODY can, okay? Get over it; it's just a cartoon ... a GREAT cartoon, but cartoon nonetheless. :)

I don't think so. Mormons are Christians, but they are the only Christian denomination that goes to heaven.

The other Christians, the ones who don't make it, are worshipping the same God.

I think that the point is that you don't get into hell unless you're incredibly dull and boring because you possess an innocence that is beyond childlike, it's almost deranged.

It reminds me of what Bill Hicks said about heaven and hell. He said that he'd rather be surfing on the ocean of fire than be in heaven, because hell is where all the fun is. (Of course, when he was dying, he changed his mind and developed another scenario about how now all the hip and fun people were in heaven.)

She may as well be. Besides, Shirley Temple didn't die as a child. Satan's advisor was clearly a small female child, around the age of 6 or 7. Wearing a fancy dress and with dimples. Either it was a stereotype that M/T thought would be funny or it was Jon Benet. Given M/T's style, I'm inclined to think it was a shot at Jon Benet.

I could be wrong -- I don't closely follow the lives of has-been stars from decades ago -- nut her entry in the IMDB (http://www.imdb.com) gives a date of birth and no date of death.

You are absolutely right.(My bad!) I did a search and found out that Shirley Temple Black's last political post was US Ambassador to Czechoslovakia. She was left that assignment when Bush's term ended. BTW, she is 72.

It was prophesied that if Jon Benet were to grow up, she would become "the radiator lady" in "Eraserhead." Henry wasn't ready for that.
