I think Kenny was like, "Oh shit! Were all doomed, South Park is history, everyone's gonna die! What's the fastest way for me to end it all?"
Of course I'm sure they were going for irony, because on first viewing Kenny's death stands out enough to be incredibly jarring.
I happen to like Kenny's death in the latest episode. If Streisand or any of the other monsters had killed them, it would have been too predictable..... part of what makes South Park so special is the Randomness of it, the unpredictability.
Kenny's death in this Ep reminded me of the scene in Dawn of The Dead when the biker takes time in the middle of a Mall filled with bloodthirsty zombies to use the Blood pressure machine, and of course ends up having his arm torn off and his guts ripped out....

I agree. I give the writers credit for coming up with new and improved ways to have Kenny die. It's interesting to see what will happen next. Predictability is boring.

I thought Kenny got his neck wrapped by the rope (or whatever) all by himself. It looked like suicide. I was waiting to hear " Oh My God, Kenny killed himself, you bastard!"

That was funny when the tether ball rope killed Kenny. What I don't get is why did Stan say "Oh my god THEY killed Kenny!" When Kenny killed himself! By way of The rope!
