I've been racking my brain on this one, and you know it's just one of those where you can try all you want but you can't see the nose on your face...
In 407 (Cherokee Hair Tampons), Cartman sang his: "No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no" line to the tune of "Comedy Tonight" from Stephen Sondheim's A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Has SP referenced Sondheim before and I'm just blocking it, or is this in response to Sondheim's nice letter to Trey for SP: BLU?

Unless it's from A Little Night Music (the one Sondheim that I'm not as familiar with), but offhand I don't think it is.

The German Dance isn't in three-quarter time, so it couldn't possibly be from A Little Night Music. (Which, incidentally, is a wonderful little musical. Based, oddly enough, on a Bergman comedy - I'd no idea such a thing could exist, but apparently there are a couple.)

I believe that it said that SP:BLU was the best musical he'd seen in the last five years.
