The return of the TV-MA rating with Mecha Streisand

South Park finally returns to the old TV-MA rating for its latest episode, Mecha Streisand. I still find it hard to believe that last week's episode Tom's Rhinoplasty which had many references and innuendoes to a woman's vagina (licking carpet, eating a box) and phallic symbols (Kenny's sausage to Miss Ellen) got a TV-14 rating. One reason why the ratings system is a total failure. Anyone agree with me here?

I disagree. By age 14 every child knows what a "carpet licker" is. Likewise, it was vague humor directed at those mentally capable to understand it. The term "Box" is old as dirt. Who hasn't already heard it. It's sad to see that people like youself want to sensor the crap out of these shows. Also, Where did you get your information about the rating? To Toltic2: Just where in my post did I say I wanted South Park to be censored? Nowhere! Get your facts straight Toltic2! I was just explaining how stupid and flawed I think the TV ratings system is plus Comedy Central's dumb judgments on which South Park shows get a TV-MA or a TV-14 rating. The content of Mecha Streisand was tame compared to the carpet licking, box eating innuendoed dialogue of Tom's Rhinoplasty yet Mecha Streisand gets a TV-MA rating while Tom's Rhinoplasty gets a TV-14 rating. I just thought it was a bad call on Comedy Central's part in rating both these episodes.

this is because, unlike the MPAA (a single entity that rates motion pictures), the TV rating system is handled by the individual networks, and it's up to THEM what rating they give their own shows.

so far (as others have pointed out), comedy central seems to be giving TV-MA ratings for "south park" episodes featuring (bleeped) cursing. seems kinda pointless, tho', if they are in fact bleeping the offending language!
