is there such a creature? I've seen 9 (or is it 10?) tapes thus far but no DVDs. I bet that damn near a whole season could be put on DVD. Now THAT would be great.

Actually, you can rent or buy them over the web via a site called NetFlix. Just go to http://referral.netflix.com/ , sign up (tell 'em [email] send ya), and you can rent the 1st 3 DVDs for free (even comes with a self-address mailer to return them in). Best of all, it does'nt have any of that "video club" crap where you have to buy some videos later on.
They currently have all 3 South Park DVDs (so far). Give it a look.
(Sorry if I'm sounding like an Amway salesman here folks. I'm just impressed as hell with the SP DVDs I picked up last month, and want others to have the chance to see how kick-ass animation looks on DVD also).
Don't forget that the DVDs are CHEAPER than the VHS versions and have four eps as opposed to two on the VHS, easily the BEST deal on DVD right now! Kinda shocking considering most everything else is MORE expensive on DVD (sometimes a LOT more) than on VHS.
