Does anyone ekse think this plonking is getting out of hand? One person tries to offer a different opinion/idea, and Ann (you're all guilty) etc. jumps down their throat and rips their insides out. Usenet is a medium for free speech, and I know we've had our share of trolls over the past few weeks, but come on, we all know that every time you reply with *PLONK* (unless it is to a true troll) you will still reply/retaliate to that person's right to free speech and free expression. Goddammit, most of you live in the US, "the land of the free" (or something like that) and you of all people should allow people to express themselves. This is not a commie newsgroup.

Do you think killfiled people get some kind of automatic nasty message when you plonk them? They don't. There's no point in "apologizing" to someone who doesn't even know you've killfiled them or un-killfiled them....unless of course you thought that by screaming PLONK at them in a public thread you're inciting others to do the same......which, I must say, would be kind of conceited, the idea that your opinion of anyone's plonkability carries weight with others.

Don't quite see your logic on this one. Just because a person has the right to post what they want, doesn't mean that I have to read them. This has nothing to do with free speech, I am not oppressing anyone when I add them to my killfile, I am just choosing not to read them. I'm certainly not preventing anyone *else* from reading them, so there is no repression of free speech whatsoever.
Now, on the other hand, if you tell me that I am obligated to read something that I don't want to, isn't that an infringement on *my rights*?
No one is preventing anyone from expressing themselves. Hell, they can express themselves in any way they please...doesn't mean I have to read them.

In fact with myself, it usually does just the opposite. I frequently go back and reload old messages to see what the "plonker" is complaining about. You are right most of the time they just don't like someone's opinion.
Besides, if you killfile someone you will never know if they ever turned their actions around. It is just too easy to just not read the thread.
If I ever "plonk" someone, it should be a personal thing. And Personally,,,,, I don't allow anyone else the power to tell me what to do.

What I was in part trying to get at in my original post was that you do not actually *PLONK* them when you say you do, because you do keep replying to their inflammatory/retaliatory messages. Plus the fact it makes you sound like a numbnut.
P.S. My newsreader (turnpike) makes no sound when I killfile, this bothers me. Regards

Well I do plonk them, Look back, before when I was using my mailfilter, the plonks didn't work, but now with my new killfile, it actually works. The only way I can see their posts is if they change their name or if someone replies! -me
I was wrongly *PLONK*ed (I'm not naming any names, because I'm not juvenile like that) by someone who obviously skimmed my post, labeled me a troll (wrongly and publicly), and added me to her killfile. I think to label the majority of this newsgroup "sheep" is inappropriate, because to my knowledge no-one else followed suit in my viscious evisceration. I do agree that to killfile someone who doesn't care to read certain posts is the right of the ng user; however, it is getting to the point that if someone doesn't agree with particular members or is not as evolved as some members are in their knowledge of what the words are to "Kyles Mom's a Bitch" they are *PLONK*ed for being a troll or a retard. Isn't this a little excessive?!?!? I thought this was a news group, not the preliminaries for MENSA {ok, I probably spelled it wrong, I am obviously not a member of that organization :0)}.
The point of my original post was not just to stop people voicing an opinion being wrongfully plonked, but also to make sure that lots of you didn't keep on making arses of yourselves by replying to messages and threads with the stupid eponymous fucking *PLONK* shite, come on people, rise above it and plonk quietly in the relative privacy of your own homes, I'm damn-near imploring you!!!!
