Besides being cheaper, you have the space-saving convenience of being able to fit 5 episodes per tape (if you edit out the commercials). If you're not a stickler for perfect picture and sound quality, you can fit 15 episodes on one tape if you record at the EP speed.
BTW, if the tape versions were unbleeped, I would consider buying or renting them. However, I've been told that the tapes are identical to the versions aired on Comedy Central.

Not only this, which is reason enough! god knows...seeing the guys being themselves, well, OK, being themselves acting like complete assholes or little darlings, is not to be missed. ALSO, consider this point -- buying the commercial tapes, some tiny percentage of the money has to find its way back into Matt and Trey's pockets. From our wallets to their mouths, right? Keep 'em alive, keep 'em creating, keep South Park going.

Dude, I get like 12 or more per tape WITH the commercials. What kinda tapes you using? heh
Ohhh. heh. Mine look perfectly fine at SLP speed with the commercials. They looked horrible when I dubbed season three from a 4 head vcr to a 2head...gah.
I still get them...just for the little intros. That last set was WELL worth it!
but, you get the way groovy openers with matt and trey as well as the absence of that godamned comedy central bug.
