Today, I was pretty glad to see the following article appear in my local news- paper:

The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council says that the running spoof
about the killing of a character named Kenny in the hit cartoon series
'South Park' does not breach the violence code of the Canadian Association
of Broadcasters. A parent had complained about gratuitous violence in the
animated program, broadcast on the Global Television Network, saying her
son has the same name as the character who gets killed. "The unrealistic
violence which recurs from episode to episode is in keeping with the theme
of the series, which seeks to ridicule societal attitudes, conventions and
taboos. South Park is decidedly not childrens' fare." the Council said.
It noted that the show "carries an explicit disclaimer" and "is not aired
at an hour where children could be expected to access it." The Council
acknowledged that kids might use a VCR to tape it, but said the broad-
