Lice Capades: How do they do it?

Am I the only person who thinks this is one of the best South Park episodes ever?

This season the episodes simply don't have any legs. They start out with a potentially funny premise that just seems to go..nowhere. The only scene that even sticks out in my mind was Cartman's ripping off of the blood test in the "The Thing".

I completely disagree. This episode was crappy, IMO. This is an episode I won't be watching as a rerun.

You're entitled to your opinion, but IMHO, there have been very, very few episodes in South Park's 10-year run that I would call "crappy." Even the weakest episodes have some hilarious moments in them.

As for the South Park movie, I consider it one of the funniest motion pictures in cinema history, and I've seen enough of my share of classic Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Marx Brothers, Laurel & Hardy, Woody Allen and Mel Brooks comedies to say that.

I agree. Way back at the beginning of season 3, I thought they'd lost it. Rainforest Schmainforest was the absolute worst and I was almost embarrassed by how bad it was! I've seen it numerous times since and it's actually pretty good. A Million Little Fibers in season 10 was very poor upon first viewing. It's actually not bad either.

While people are keen to see a repeat performance when it comes to episodes that they enjoy, it's almost imperative that they have another look at those that they didn't enjoy. I've found that a second viewing of a "bad" episode usually reveals something that isn't anything like the first impression.

I've seen every episode more than once. Some are better on second viewing, and very few are disappointing after a second look. How many bands have had 158 songs that are all great? I reckon South Park has a much better hit rate than the Beatles or Elvis or any other artist you care to name. That's the generic "you" and not you personally, Eric. As I said, I agree with you.

But a good response to someone's criticism is to challenge them to do better. While you may enjoy some episodes more than others, you have to admit that it takes an incredible amount of creativity to parody a pop culture event so cleverly and so quickly too.

Since I'm a stoner for life, I loved both Towelie episodes, and I always add a clip like "wanna get high" or "oh man, i have no idea what's going on" etc to my mix discs just to trip people out.

Maybe that's it Vic. When I settle in to watch a new South Park episode, I have no idea what to expect but I always have an expectation of good things. Sometimes I feel quite let down, although a second look usually restores my faith.

In many ways, the newer South Park episodes seem to lack a bit of substance (Lice Capades is a perfect example), but they also have a depth that the earlier episodes didn't have. I'm a contradictory bastard at times. All I know is that I never want South Park to end.
