alt.tv.southpark Chatroom--Proposition

Ok, I've got a little proposition to make. How about if someone makes an official chatroom for us alt.tv.southparkians? I can't because I really suck at computer stuff-I only use my computer for basic stuff. It'll always be open for chats, but sometimes we'll have "official" chat times, where there's a set date and time where we all show up to chat, if we could. I figured this might be a good idea, since a lot of us would like to have an in-person meeting, but because of distance, (in some cases) parents, and other forces of nature, it might be a bit difficult. So, methinks live chats would be the next best thing. Opinions?

Although I don't know much about chat rooms, I do know that it's not hard to form a channel on IRC. Just make up a name for the room, spread the word on the NG and that's it! So far I know of 2 SP- related chat rooms on IRC- #southpark and #mrhat.

You should find me in the channel just about any time. If I'm as BitchMom_away I may not be home, or I may just be in another part of the house. I have it set so that when someone enters the channel my computer plays a wav so that I'll know :-) Give it a couple minutes to see if I'm there. Thanks!

How about mid afternoon (2 ish) Sundays? That's American time by the way, so that translates to about 7pm in GMT.

I think it's a great idea, so I'm for it.

Dalnet #alt.tv.southpark If you don't see the topic as " A channel/room for alt.tv.southpark readers to chat in." then you are on a split off server, try reconnecting to a different server on Dalnet.

You should also see me in there as either BitchMom or BitchMom_away. I'm staying in the channel 24/7

How do I get to dalnet and to the chat

Download either mIRC or pIRCh they are both IRC clients. In the server section you should see Dalnet listed under the "IRC Network" group and then you need to pick a server. That's it. Hopefully soon, we'll have java access to the channel.
