ACHTUNG SOUTHPARK FANS!! The Halloween episode kicked total ass. Kenny dies like 5 times and gets to eat people. Cartman is by far the funniest thing ever to be on television. His costumes were the greatest. There is nothing like this on the air. It is the most offensive, vulgar, gross, violent, disgusting show of all time and it is awesome. Simpsons, Beavis and Butthead, and King of the Hill are nothing but dildos. South Park for life!!!
SP Halloween PInkeye Kicked Ass!!
I was in tears from laughing so hard when the chef saw him his KKK costume. The Hitler costume was also pretty funny, but I thought he looked alot like Costello from Abbot and Costello! <<<<<<>>>>>> [email] Wiseguy S.A.D. http://members.aol.com/Toltic2/Freeworld.html
I thought Cartman was like Larel and Hardy, until I saw the shawstica...(sp, I know, didn't take german). I almost peed my pants...
Sad to say it, but I don't think this episode will ever get aired again...

The people responsible have never publicly apologized for ridiculing Jesus. Unfortunately, it seems to be politically correct these days to bash the religion that founded this country. Dressing this Cartmen character as both a Nazi and a KKK member will be their undoing though! This offends groups who are active in stopping this sort of flagrant disrespect.
Enjoy the show, folks. It's days are numbered. And I'll pray for all of you.

Elvyra,
To assume that people who disagree with your beliefs and have different standards are "in a lot of pain" and having some sort of "reaction of their conscience" is ludicrous and plain ignorant.
Whether or not you can imagine or understand it, there are billions of people in this world who are not Christian... and I would wager that the ratio of "content and well-adjusted" to "deranged or lost" is about the same for Fundamentalist Christians as for the rest of us!
You must have been one pitiful soul before you found JEEEZUS. Perhaps that's why you assume that the rest of us are pitiful, in pain, and lost.
Oh yeah, and get a friggin' life. It's just a TV SHOW for christ's sake! (And the funniest one I've ever seen).
And if you *can't* get a life, I'll be glad to take up a collection to buy a catapult so you and your ilk can hurl yourselves at Comedy Central's offices in protest.

well...o.k...I guess the show is basically offensive sometimes. But, if you actually care or are emotionally hurt by what a piece of cardboard says, then...well. I dunno...

Come to think of it, the show really doesn't offend. It shows how society is affecting the youth. And it shows how stupid it is. I don't know if I'm the only one in the world to do this or not, but I doubt I am. I find life funny. I sit back and look at the big picture and think to myself "What a fucked up place we live in". All south park does is take that big picture and shove it into a little computerized cardboard cutout of an 8 year old who is only doing what he knows.
South Park actually does what I do to reality, and softens it not to be offensive. When I make fun of religon, I don't soften it down to just Jesus fighting Santa over the spirit of christmas, I go around quoting Nietzsche and/or claiming myself to be Jesus, because I might as well be.
South Park has a moral, weather or not people acknowledge it or not. Maybe its time for people to open there eyes and take things for what they are, and not hide behind a wall of insults.

Puritans were not the foundations of Christianity. Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy predate Puritanism by 1400 years. Puritans were Protestants and Christianity was around long before the Protestant Reformation.
I see no reason why Jesus should be less of a target for humor than any other historic or mythic figure. Certainly the tenets of other faiths have been mined for their comedic value. In fact I would submit to you that "South Park" treats Jesus a lot better than the likes of Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Robert Tilton, Bob Larson (the greatest of the Jesus satirists) et al. All "South Parks" wants out of Jesus is a good laugh, not your life savings.

In any case, as the cat population declined, the rat population went unchecked, and fleas which fed on the rats were the main vehicle for transmission of the disease. You don't understand the show. You wouldn't know satire if it took a chunk out of your left morbidly obese buttock. You seek to bolster your flagging self esteem by presupposing to take the moral high ground.
In reality your lack of content in an intelligent conversation has forced you to seek shelter with your before TV crutch.

God Bless, Jeem, because he's so damn handsome.
The major diferences between Nazi propoganda films and South Park would have to be one of two things. The first being that South Park is not spreading hate in any way shape or form. And it is not setting up stereotypes either. Instead it is making fun of those stereotypes and letting people laugh at their own stupidity and bigotry.
The second major difference is the fact that South Park targets *everyone*. It doesn't just single out the jews or homosexuals or gypsies. No, it makes fun of everything. From Messiah's to children's Fantasy Christmas figures to Actor's careers who have failed to Brian Boytono <sp?>. It is not bigotry. If it is anything it is against humanity itself because the creators of the show do no like what humans have become. And it is spreading this message to the masses.
Nietz
As a Jewish-American and an avid South Park fan, I see your point, but I don't see the validity behind it. This show is an obvious masterpiece in satire, and is geared for an older audience then you might suspect. People who watch South Park are not nearly as naieve as you think they are: they aren't going to go rush out to their local costume store and dress up like Adolf Hitler (not that there would be a costume available anyway). I found the Halloween episode to be incredibly hysterical, despite Cartman's cameo as Hitler, which had me rolling. I've studied the Holocaust as intensely as an individual can study it, and I not only have a responsibility to remember it, but to shrug off, or even appreciate, the satire that South Park created the other night. We live in a different society now. South Park does not evoke an " evil message, " it simply mocks evil messages of years past. Think about THAT. If you'd like to discuss this further, you can e-mail me...anyone else, for that matter.

Edwina is not being injured here; she's being disagreed with. It's hardly sensible to burst into a room full of fans with a contrary and inflammatory viewpoint and demand that everyone quickly acknowledge its superiority. If Edwina can't handle being disagreed with, she needs another forum -- perhaps a roomful of stuffed animals would suit her.
If Edwina is "troubled," this newsgroup is the *stupidest* place to her to seek support for her neurosis. I myself am troubled by religious fundamentalists and the Ku Klux Klan, but I don't visit their places of assembly to try to secure assistance in fighting them. Frankly, though, Edwina sounds like she'd be "troubled" by operating a toaster.
You have that backwards. Edwina herself has claimed, several times, that she plans to mount an effort to *silence* South Park. Yet none of those speaking against her on this thread have yet suggested that *she* be muzzled (though the image does have a definite earthy appeal).
I doubt anyone here cares how "un-American" you think we are. For one thing, it's a lame, nebulous insult. For another, the Internet is a *worldwide* thing, not an American product or principle. Nobody here is obliged to demonstrate their Americanism. Thus, those who dredge up the inane "First Amendment rights" argument, besides usually being squarely on the wrong side of it (since it's usually *they* who are advocating restricted speech), are demonstrating a profound ignorance of the very entity upon which they are preaching.
Edwina remains free to post her bilge whenever she wants, and she can post virtually anything she wishes. What she *cannot* do is tell others what they may post in reply. She also cannot demand that others hold sacred the same things she does. She has the same right to revere her various icons and idols as we do to spit on them. *That* is the test of freedom.

I LOVED that costume. Both of them, actually. It was a perfect example of this thread. How one can find something inoffensive, and another can find it the most outrageous lack of decency. When a child dresses up as a ghost, not realizing how politically incorrect it is to look like a KKK member... As far as the Hitler costume, maybe they were making a statement about how the youth in this country are becoming more and more unaware of the planet's history. Could it have been a statement about the attitudes of youth? Of the school systems inability to be able to teach many of them due to the various factors? Maybe there IS a moral lesson here, and maybe it's not the blatant bullshit that's on the surface (see cartman wear hitler costume = Hitler is cool and should be emulated? I think NOT.) Could be that the issues in the world today are actually being looked at (and displayed for the public) in a different way to maybe get the point across that has not gotten across in the normal fashion? I'm NOT saying that SP is sending those deep hidden messages in hopes to make this world a better place. As far as I'm concerned, it's a TV show that is one of the funniest I've ever watched. As for the Founding Fathers, as pointed out before, they were Deists. Hell, Thomas Jefferson found the Bible to be so offensive that he edited and published his own version. Benjamin Franklin was a prodigious writer of pornography and boffed every lady in the French Court while negotiating French aid to the US during the Revolution. Jefferson owned slaves and made a mistress out of one of them as well as being a regular pot smoker (as were many people in the colonies). Thomas Paine (publisher of "Common Sense") was an atheist. The letters, papers and assorted writings of the Founding Fathers all speak to their contempt of organized religion for they all had first hand experience as to what that institution had done to Europe. Besides which Fundamentalist Christianity didn't even exist until 1912 with the publishing of "The Fundamentals" so it cannot be ascribed to the Founding Fathers. Making the blanket claim that people who don't believe the way you do are all going to Hell and are under the thrall of Satan is pretty offensive to someone who's a devout Muslim, Buddhist, witch, etc. As far as religions go Christianity's the new kid on the block. At only two millenia christians have got nothing to say to Hindus who have been around for 7000 years or Wiccans who've been around for 10,000 years.
I'm sure you'll be as resoundingly successful as the Southern Baptists and their boycott of the Disney Corporation. Given that Disney makes the bulk of it's earnings in the global entertainment market it will be interesting to see how the SBs try to convince the people of Scandinavia to adopt american sexual attitudes. "South Park" is a rarity among the current crop of TV comedy shows. Unlike "Beavis & Butthead" you have to be educated and thinking to appreciate the humor in "South Park". You have to be observant and you can suddenly find yourself laughing at something you hadn't noticed when you first saw the episode (i.e. Did anyone notice the lump at Mr. Garrison's beltline in his dress during the Halloween episode?) Offensive humor has a history going back to the theatre of ancient Greece. Comedy has always been a weapon used to challenge and upset the status quo. If you think "South Park" is the first time christianity has come under satiric attack you need to bone up on your classic literature. Authors and playwrights once were imprisoned if their works were deemed "inappropriate" by the powers that be. Now artists have the freedom to find meaning and humor in any subject that catches their attention. Ultimately "South Park" ridicules american complacency in the illusions we hold about our culture. It exaggerates the reality of America and then holds it up in a way we cannot ignore. As offensive as they may seem the kids in "South Park" are quite tame compared to real 8-year-olds out there. None of the kids in "South Park" has ever done anything comparable to what goes on in the newspapers every day. The warm, fuzzy view we like to hold about american families nutured by shows like "Father Knows Best", "Leave it to Beaver" and "Happy Days" was never true. I'm sure every person on this newsgroup knew a kid like Cartman once. I sure did when I was in school.
In future please specify which one.
Oh, I can just see it. A half-dozen plump-cheeked fundies lined up in a prim little row, taking turns bellowing brimstone into the mike, barfing up platitudes about "proper" and "respectful" behavior, while the rest of us imagine what each one would look like with an 80-foot satellite dish up her ass.
So far, Edwina has threatened this "challenge" from her "friends" three times in less than two months (that I've seen -- maybe more). Either her "friends" are even slower than she is, or the promised "challenge" has been given what little attention it deserves and nobody noticed. (Can you say "public access"?). Most people in Edwina's camp are too stupid to organize "public debate" among anyone but their supporters, and too chicken-shit to participate in debates organized by anyone else. That's why the bitch arrives here every few weeks to make a single post, and leaves.
So, not to worry. There'll be pie for everyone. We can spoon it off Edwina's face.

I can see it now, Edwina and her friends demonstrating in front of Comedy Central, using a giant sling shot to hurl members of their group to their death against the side of the building ...

Is there an alt.tv.we.hate.south.park.get.it.off.the.air.now group? No. But there _is_ an alt.tv.southpark group, which has the highest traffic of all the groups I read. Sometimes higher than the groups I read put together. From the traffic in this group, which has grown from 50-60 posts a day 2-3 weeks ago to it's current 125-150 posts per day currently, I think there are probably more supporters than nay-sayers. Besides, what else does Comedy Central have? Sure, they shows The Critic and The Tick, and show Gallagher every so often, but beyond that they have nothing. All their other shows are mediocre at best, down right crappy in most cases. When was the last time you saw an article about Make Me Laugh? Or Win Ben Stein's Money? Exactly. Comedy Central would have to be complete morons to take South Park off the air.
Butt chomp, butt chewy chomp??

Hey, does that mean you'll hurl yourselves at the Comedy Central building and leave your bloody pulps oozing down the side?

We liked it when all the sancitmonious parents sling-shoted themselves onto the Cartoon Central building. And we loved it when Cartmen dressed up as both Hitler _and_ a KKK member, which I am sure you are a member of yourself, in the same episode.
If it's so damn offensive, why do you watch it? Do you 'monitor' it, taking notes on all the 'offensive' bits, and then go and get off while reading you list, thinking how good and pure and rightous you are? I do believe so.
No religion founded this country. People founded this country. Your god did not found this country. Your god is dead. And no one cares. Get over yourself and deflate your holier-than-thou ego.
Why? Are the Nazis one of the seven dirty words? Is Hitler on that list? Is the Ku Klux Klan on that list? Not the last time I checked. Your people came up with that list. You should know it a little better.
Awww, all the 'pity me because I'm so oppresed' minorities are going to start a riot over a cartoon? South Park != Rodney King. Is someone holding a gun to your, or anyone else's head, and making you watch the show? I think not. If so, please let them read this: SHOOT THIS PYSCHO BITCH NOW!!! SAVE US ALL!!!! Mr. Pyscho, you may put the wacko-religious broad back on the screen now.

(Gasp) Oh my god!! Edwina is back!! Everyone, don't keep this thread going on for TOO long. However, I must say that Ed's posts are bit more "rational" and calm than before. Still blissfully clueless, but at least she's... I dunno.
Ummm. They never 'ridiculed' Jesus. Ever.
Christianity didn't 'find' this country. You may have read a book, dear. But, common sense... That's another story. I'm not gonna even elaborate on this matter. Just think about what you said, please. "This country was founded on unpopular speech", Edwina.
Um, this country was founded by deists, not Christians. Hancock, Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Hamilton... you name it. They believed in a system of a structured ordered universe created by an enlightened Creator. Before you make claims as wrong and as general as the one you made, why don't you read the voluminous amount of material (journals, letters and diaries) that they left behind. It might open your eyes a bit.
Also, dressing up Cartman as Hitler and a KKK member and then making fun of him is known as "satire". It shows how "bad" those people are. If you missed that, then your head is WAAAAY too far up your asshole and you should go see a doctor.
Groups who are active in stopping flagrant disrepect to things that never happened (this bizarre belief that Xians founded the US of A) are known as "people who want to force their erroneous beliefs down other people's throats". Some call them terrorists. Others might call them nazis. Ironic, isn't it? You, a Nazi, are angered that someone is making fun of Nazis.

I sincerely hope that narrow-minded people like you, Edwina, don't lead to the censorship or downfall of a great show like South Park. In case you may not know, there is a thing called freedom of speech and freedom of expression in many developed countries. "Flagrantly disrespecting" people or Jesus is not against the law. It was against the law perhaps back in the middle ages, but human intellectual thought has generally developed greatly since then. And, there are far worse sick and twisted things in society today than South Park. You obviously missed the point of SP humor completely.
Hoping that you open up your mind,

I don't find it offensive that Jesus is on South Park. I don't think the show "flagrantly disrespects" him or "bashes religion." The humor is supposed to be taken as funny and not offend anyone (that "dirty Jew" remark will probably turn some heads though). But some people who try to get rid of any show they don't like makes others generalize all religious people as eccentric Ned Flanders types who block out all of their cable channels except PBS. I'm no "God freak," but I know there's a line that can be crossed, and South Park hasn't crossed it in my opinion. Almost with violence, but there's a difference between seeing paper cutout people getting their arms torn off and realistic looking animated people getting their heads blown up (a slight difference).
Actually...the funny thing is, they never actually said he was a member of the KKK. They said he was a ghost. It was hilarious when he scared Chef though!
Laura wrote:
I don't feel I have a constitutional right to not be offended. I just don't see why humor has to be twisted in this way. Are the creators of this show so short of imagination that only shocking images can sell it? Read the posts in this newsgroup; it's all about this shocking phrase, or that shocking image. Rarely, if ever, are there any real comedic moments discussed. So many viewers seem to have an elementary-school sense of humor - "ooo...he said butt!". I pray that the creators of this show will use whatever creativity they have to make something funny. I don't mind if it's a little risque; but does it need to offend Christians, Jews, and African-Americans? Of course not!
By the way, I have a life. Two actually; my life after this one will be everlasting, in the presence of our Lord. Think about that.
God Bless, Edwina

You knwo what I hate? People who leave their capslock on all the time. And, FWIW, how do you know god has a sense of humor? Have you talked with him lately?
It really sucks people like you think that you can censor anything that you deem politically incorrect. The Halloween episode didn't step over any line that every other Southpark show didn't cross.
The show makes fun of anything that is politically correct, and people like you are so insecure in your political correctness that you demand that the show be taken off the air.
As far as the Halloween episode not being aired again, I've seen it 3 times now, and I'm sure it'll play many more times.
Religion is only what you interpret it as. Your religion is yours and yours alone, and what you believe is unique and nobody has the exact same beliefs. It's not your right to judge what other people should believe.
I don't think the show's going anywhere. If you don't like it, turn the TV off. Nobody is twisting your arm to watch the show.

This was definitley one of the best shows ever put on television. Who else would have the balls to show a kid wearing a hitler and KKK costume! I about pissed my pants seeing cartman as Hitler giving a message to his fellow nazis.
No way. If South Park was cancelled on Comedy Central, MTV would probably pick it up. After all, MTV originally wanted to pick up SP as "the next Beavis and Butthead", but Matt and Trey didn't want SP to be potrayed in that way.

Kickass.
I agree. I also wouldn't want my show to be on a channel that is supposed to be about MUSIC anyway. They already have enough crappy non-music shows. Just imagine: IT'S SOUTH PARK. MTV HAS A NEW TRENDY SHOW. WE'LL PUT SOME GENERIC ROCK MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND AND IT'LL BE EVEN BETTER THAN BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD. THOSE TWO GUYS THAT CREATED IT SHOULD THANK US BECAUSE BEING ON MTV MAKES ANYONE A STAR. Well, at least we'd see all the episodes since they like to show the same thing over and over (on the other hand, so does Comedy Central).
I AGREE 150%. I AM A LOYAL CHRUCH GOING PERSON (WHO WATCHS SOUTHPARK AS MUCH AS I CAN) AND THINK THAT IF YOU LET PEOPLE MAKE THERE OWN DECISIONS THE WORLD WILL BE A BETTER PLACE. SO PLEASE ALL YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE STOP TRYING TO INFLUENCE OTHERS AND LET THEM THINK FOR THEMSELVES.
OH AND HERE IS ANOTHER IDEA IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T WATCH IT
SOUTH PARK KICKS ASS!!!!!!!!!
