Okay - I taped and analyzed the episode tonight. Here's what I've got:
The members of Christopher Reeve's Legion of Doom are:
Christopher Reeve (obviously) Professor Chaos General Disarray Solomon Grundy (he is significantly taller than the others and has white skin and hair, seen from behind) Doctor Octopus (you can see the arms from behind and you can just make him out wearing glasses and having the arms from a front shot) David Blaine The dictator of North Korea - Kim Jong IL Cheetah Saddam Hussein (of one of his lookalikes - heh) Black Manta Doctor Doom Osama Bin Laden
There are two I couldn't figure out... to the left of Solomon Grundy there's a guy with a white head and to the right of Osama there's a guy with a black head.
According to the original Superfriends cartoon there were 13 members of the LOD. There are 12 figures seated plus Reeve standing. The numbers don't quite add up, as I believe Prof. Chaos is sitting between Solomon Grundy and Doctor Octopus, yet in a closeup it seems that Gen. Disarray is sitting next to Chaos.
So if the unidentified guy with the black head and the one with the white head are not General Disarray, that either means there are 14 members or General Disarray doesn't count as a member since he's a sidekick.
Just FYI:
Solomon Grundy first appeared in DC Comics fighting the first Green Lantern from the 30's or 40's (the Golden Age Green Lantern) A man was killed in the swamp outside Gotham (I think) City and the body fell into the swamp. Somehow over several years the body absorbed muck and such from the swamp and one day a massive pale-skinned creature shambled out of the swamp and came across some transients. As he was "born" on a Monday, the transients named him Solomon Grundy from the old nursery rhyme. Grundy proved to be one of the most powerful villaims in DC history. Although protrayed as strictly a big brute in the cartoon, the Grundy of the comics had the power to absorb and re-direct energy... such as the energy from Green Lantern's ring. His ability to withstand intense punishment and incredible strength made Grundy a very formidable foe.
Interestingly enough, a bit of Grundy's origin was actually introduced in the cartoon, which normally had little connection to the comic characters. In one episode the Superfriends and Legion of Doom both go deep underground to find a powerful magical (or radioactive?) stone that is surrounded by a river of lava. Grundy explains that the stone somehow caused his body to form from a dead carcass and brought him to life.
Cheetah was a long time villainess of Wonder Woman. The one seen in the cartoon was the "Golden Age" Cheetah who first appeared around the 30's or 40's. A more modern Cheetah popped into the picture during the "Silver Age" in the 60's.
Doctor Octopus - or Doc Ock to his fans - is a longtime Spiderman villain and will be seen in the Spiderman movie sequel. The FX work the crew is doing with the arms is supposed to be phenomenal.
Doctor Doom has fought pretty much everybody in Marvel comics, but mainly feuded with the Fantastic Four. (he went to college with the FF's leader Reed Richards and Doom blamed Richards for a failed experiment that scarred his face)
Black Manta looks cool and sounds cool. Always loved the voice they had for him in the cartoon. Manta is a lord of the sea - using a Manta-shaped submarine to perpetrate undersea crimes. Naturally, he pretty much exclusively fought Aquaman and actually killed Aquaman's son in the comics. He can fire laser beams from the eyes of his helmet.
I figure probably no one cares, but I'm a raging comic geek and I like to share my obsessions.
